At the time of this post, it has now been 4 days, 12 hours, 28 minutes, and 45 seconds since 15 year old Malia has been missing.
Official efforts to search and locate Malia have been minimal to non-existent. She has now been without medication for 4 days, is extremely vulnerable, and has a documented history of significant mental health and development delays, and exploitation. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie and pink crocs. It’s currently 34 degrees.
Despite this, Raleigh Police Department has still declined to issue an Amber Alert or Silver Alert, stating her case “does not meet criteria.”
What is the “criteria” for protecting and serving those who are the most vulnerable in our communities? When will this be taken seriously and amplified the way it deserves?
Malia’s safety depends on visibility and community pressure.
