Beyond Low-Content Books
Cracking the Code to $2,000+ Months with High-Impact Book Series on Amazon KDP

Whenever I open YouTube, I’m bombarded with videos about “making money on KDP publishing with low-content books.” While there’s nothing wrong with that approach (I have a few low-content books myself!), I wanted to explore a different angle.

My current quest is to write a book a month, not just any book, but one that serves as a lead magnet for my business and showcases my expertise. To streamline the process for both myself and my readers, I keep these books under 50 pages and write them in series.

I wasn’t the first to discover this strategy. Three powerhouse authors convinced me it was the right direction for me.

Now, I want to share the steps on how you can create a steady income stream by writing short books that lead to digital product sales, coaching clients, and even newsletter subscribers.

1. Genre and Niche Selection:

-Choose a broad non-fiction genre you’re knowledgeable about (business, self-help, health & wellness etc.).
-Find a specific topic within your chosen genre with a dedicated audience but less competition. Research search trends and bestseller lists to identify niches like “Productivity for Creatives” or “Investing for Beginners.”

2. Series Planning:

-Plan a series that delves progressively deeper into your chosen niche. Each book can focus on a specific subtopic or aspect, building upon the knowledge from previous books.
-Non-fiction readers seek practical takeaways. Focus on providing clear, actionable strategies and steps readers can implement to achieve their goals within your niche.
-Use relevant case studies, real-world examples, and success stories to illustrate your points and make your content relatable.

3. Content and Quality:

-Ensure your information is based on credible sources, research, and your OWN expertise.
-Use relevant data, statistics, and research findings to support your claims and add authority to your writing.
-Include infographics, charts, diagrams, and other visuals to break up text and enhance reader understanding.

4. Book Production and Publishing:

-Format your books for both ebook and paperback with a clear structure, bullet points, numbered lists, and easy-to-follow layouts that make the information accessible.
-Consider offering the first book as a free download or at a lower price to attract readers and establish yourself as an authority in your niche. -Subsequent books can be priced at a premium.
-Optimize your book titles, descriptions, and keywords using search terms related to the specific subtopic each book addresses. I use bookbeam to help me with this area.

5. Building Readership and Sales:

-Connect with bloggers, podcasters, and online communities relevant to your niche. Offer guest posts, interviews, or free downloadable content to reach potential readers.
-Create blog posts, articles, or social media content related to your niche topics to establish yourself as an expert and drive traffic to your author website.
- Host online webinars or workshops based on your book series topics to generate leads and convert them into paying customers. I use this strategy each month too.
- Consider offering online courses or coaching programs that expand upon the information in your series, providing a premium learning experience for dedicated readers.

I know you want to see the math so here is the math breakdown. Now this is from KDP alone and no other income streams

Book Series Math
$2000 per month / 4 books in one series will need to generate $500 per book per month

Price your paperback at $13.99–60%(amazon’s cut)=$6.09 in royalties for you

$500\$6.09=82 books per series per month

You will need to sell a total of 329 books per month to reach your $2000 per month goal

I hope this was helpful and that you take your knowledge and expertise very seriously and create your short books. You don’t have to publish each month like me but it does take your results to the next level.
