Disney, the parent company of ABC, announced today that late-night host Jimmy Kimmel will return to the air tomorrow night on ABC.

However, this evening Sinclair, which owns 38 ABC affiliates — the largest group in the country — said it will continue preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! and replace it with news programming.

Local ABC11 WTVD is part of the ABC Owned Television Stations group, which is directly operated by Disney. ABC11's main studio recently relocated from Downtown Raleigh to Downtown Durham.

Nexstar has not yet commented on Kimmel's return to air.

North Hills is rolling out a FREE Fall Kids series starting tomorrow on Tuesdays September 23 through October 28 from 9:30–11:30 AM at the Commons (4191 Main at North Hills).

Enjoy FREE themed fun, crafts, storytimes, music, and hands-on activities for preschool-aged children.

🍦 September 23 – Ice Cream Dreams / Kick off the season with sweet treats from Ben & Jerry’s, plus an open play zone with sensory bins, toys, and foam mats

This week NC State University announced a new program "Wolfpack Connect" that provides a guaranteed admissions pathway to NC State for North Carolina community college students.

Students who earn an associate’s degree, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and meet NC State’s admission deadlines can transfer and enroll in more than 100 eligible NC State majors and concentrations.

The first three community college partners are Wake Technical Community College, Central Piedmont Community College, and Forsyth Technical Community College.

All 58 North Carolina community colleges have the opportunity to join the program through October 17, after which they can join annually.

The program will begin accepting eligibility forms in late January 2026 for a Fall 2026 start. Forms are due by June 1.

Come out for Chavis Celebrates: The Main Event this Saturday September 20 from 1-6 pm.

This FREE family-friendly event celebrates the 87th anniversary of the heritage, history, and culture of John Chavis Memorial Park.

Enjoy inflatables, carousel rides, live entertainment, food trucks, and so much more!

Named after Revolutionary War veteran and minister John Chavis — Chavis Park opened in 1937 as a recreational spot for Black residents during segregation. The park featured an olympic sized pool, athletic fields, tennis courts, amphitheater, picnic shelters, and the historic Allan Herschell Carousel.

In 2016, Chavis Park was added to the National Register of Historic Places and underwent a massive transformation.

Reopening in 2021, this time replacing the pool with a splash pad, playground, plaza, and a new modern community center.
