Gap hired LL Cool J to sell jeans, but he slipped FUBU into the commercial with a gray “FB” cap and the line, “For Us, By Us, on the low.” Daymond John says Gap spent $30 million airing the ad before noticing. Gap bought the airtime. FUBU gained the attention. Was LL a marketing genius, or was it wrong to promote another brand in Gap’s commercial? It became a lesson about cultural trust and reach.

Stop defending your price.

Everybody who says you’re too expensive isn’t your customer. If you have to lower your value every time somebody challenges your price, you don’t have a pricing problem; you have a confidence problem.

Sometimes the best business decision is being willing to walk away.

Business owners: Do you negotiate or stand firm on your price?
