FAYETTEVILLE WOMAN CHARGED IN $466,000 ELDER EXPLOITATION INVESTIGATION

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman has been arrested after investigators say $466,000 was transferred from an elderly victim’s account into her own account.

Michelle Folker Harris, 54, was arrested Tuesday, October 13, by financial crimes detectives with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. She was charged with obtaining property by false pretenses involving more than $100,000 and exploitation of an elder.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, detectives began investigating the case in July 2026 and discovered the transfers during their investigation. Authorities did not release additional details about Harris’ relationship to the victim or how she allegedly gained access to the funds.

Harris was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center and released on a $400,000 unsecured bond. Her first court appearance was scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, at the detention center.

WENDELL WOMAN ACCUSED OF HELPING HUSBAND ASSAULT HER TEENAGE SON

WENDELL, N.C. — A Wendell woman has been arrested after authorities accused her of cutting off her son’s dreadlocks while her husband assaulted him, according to Wake County court documents.

India Terrie Sheridan, 38, was arrested October 11 and charged with the below:

• Contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile
• Aid and abet

According to a magistrate’s order, Sheridan allegedly grabbed the teenager’s hair, cut off his dreadlocks and allowed her husband to assault him inside a Wendell residence.

The charging document identifies the alleged attacker as Sheridan’s husband. It states that two other minors were present during the alleged assault.

Authorities allege Sheridan assisted her husband by cutting her son’s dreadlocks during the incident. The document also alleges she did not call 911 despite having been told to call during an earlier incident.

RALEIGH MAN ACCUSED OF POSSESSING COUNTERFEIT MERCHANDISE WITH LISTED RETAIL VALUE OF $316,700

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A Raleigh man is accused of possessing counterfeit merchandise bearing the trademarks of several major brands, according to a Wake County arrest warrant.

Maurice Majette is charged with felony counterfeit trademark in connection with an alleged offense.

The warrant alleges Majette possessed numerous counterfeit items bearing trademarks including Nike, Louis Vuitton, Timberland, Adidas, Cartier and Versace. Court documents list a manufacturer’s suggested retail price value of $316,700.

The complainant listed on the warrant is the North Carolina Secretary of State’s Criminal Investigations Division.

CARY MAN CHARGED WITH FELONY FLEEING, ACCUSED OF DRIVING 60 MPH IN 35 MPH ZONE

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A Cary man is facing charges after authorities allege he fled a police officer attempting to conduct a traffic stop on Morrisville Parkway.

An arrest warrant issued October 11 identifies the defendant as Khizr Ahmad Kazmi, 23, of Cary. He is charged with:

• Felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle
• Misdemeanor reckless driving with wanton disregard
• Speeding in a 35 mph zone

According to the warrant, Kazmi allegedly fled Cary Police Officer D. Jackson during an attempted traffic stop on October 11. The felony charge alleges he was traveling more than 15 mph above the posted speed limit and driving recklessly.

A separate speeding allegation in the warrant specifies that Kazmi was traveling 60 mph on Morrisville Parkway, where the posted speed limit was 35 mph.

FAYETTEVILLE WOMAN FACES ROBBERY, KIDNAPPING CHARGES IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — An arrest warrant charges an 18-year-old Fayetteville woman with nine offenses, including armed robbery and first-degree kidnapping, stemming from alleged incidents on September 29.

Shyenne Gillis is named in the warrant issued October 6 following an investigation by the Fayetteville Police Department.

According to the warrant, Gillis is accused of taking $3,000 from one victim and $500 from another while threatening them with a fi***rm. The document also alleges she conspired with several other individuals to commit the robberies.

MAN CHARGED IN LOUISBURG COLLEGE SUITE BREAK-IN

LOUISBURG, N.C. — A Maxton man is accused of breaking into a college residential suite in Louisburg and stealing clothing and footwear valued at $805, according to a Franklin County arrest warrant.

Jace Alexander Jacobs, 20, faces felony charges of breaking or entering and larceny after breaking or entering.

The warrant alleges the incident occurred March 8, 2026, at Merritt Hall, located at 501 N. Main Street in Louisburg. Investigators allege Jacobs unlawfully entered a suite with the intent to commit a felony or larceny.

According to the charging document, the stolen property included a Polo hoodie, a Noize insulated winter coat, Yeezy slides, two Abercrombie T-shirts, a Nike T-shirt and an Anti-Social Social Club T-shirt. The items belonged to a resident of the suite.

The warrant was issued June 23, 2026, following an investigation by the Louisburg Police Department.

TWO ARRESTED, THIRD SUSPECT WANTED AFTER HOKE COUNTY DRUG SEARCH; THREE CHILDREN REMOVED FROM HOME

HOKE COUNTY, N.C. — Two people were arrested and a third is wanted after investigators reported finding suspected fentanyl, ma*****na and two ri**es during a search of a Red Springs-area home where three children were present.

According to the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office, the Narcotics/Vice Suppression Unit executed a search warrant October 8, 2026, in the 400 block of Brewer Drive.

The investigation began with allegations that Camron Lee Jones was selling illegal drugs. Detectives later identified his girlfriend, Destiny Telisha Brooks, and her brother, Justin Samuel Lowery, as additional people of interest.

Authorities said Lowery had been incarcerated during part of the investigation but was on active probation when the warrant was served.

Brooks, her three children, Lowery and two other people were on the property when investigators arrived. Jones was not present. The search was conducted without incident.

Investigators reported finding suspected fentanyl, ma*****na, two ri**es, scales, baggies and other drug paraphernalia. According to the sheriff’s office, some of the suspected fentanyl was packaged into approximately five dosage units for sale or delivery. An additional compressed piece weighed approximately two grams.

The sheriff’s office said Brooks told investigators she was 38 weeks pregnant and was continuing to smoke ma*****na. Authorities said that information, along with conditions inside the home, prompted them to contact the Hoke County Department of Social Services.

After evaluating the home, DSS arranged for the three children to stay with a family member that night, with additional accommodations planned for the following day, according to the release.

Brooks was arrested and charged with:

• Possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule I controlled substance
• Possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance
• Maintaining a dwelling or place for the manufacture, sale, delivery or use of a controlled substance
• Felony child abuse
• Three counts of misdemeanor child abuse
• Two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia

Brooks received a $50,000 unsecured bond.

Lowery was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $25,000 secured bond. Probation and parole officials were notified of his new charges.

Investigators also obtained warrants charging Jones with the same offenses listed for Brooks. He remained wanted at the time of the sheriff’s office announcement.

WAKE COUNTY MAN FACES STOLEN IDENTITY, FINANCIAL CARD THEFT AND DWI CHARGES

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A man arrested Tuesday faces a dozen charges across two Wake County cases, including allegations involving stolen financial cards, a stolen military identification card and impaired driving.

Christopher Lee Sandy was arrested October 6, according to a magistrate’s order obtained by the Wake County Sheriff’s Office. A separate warrant issued October 7 charges him with five felony counts of financial card theft and one felony count of trafficking in stolen identities.

The warrant alleges Sandy took, obtained or withheld financial cards without consent and with the intent to use them. The trafficking charge involves credit and debit card numbers and cards allegedly connected to financial identity fraud. The alleged offenses are dated October 6.

In the initial case, Sandy is charged with:

* Felony receiving stolen goods or property
* Driving while impaired
* Possession of drug paraphernalia
* Displaying a fictitious registration plate
* Operating a vehicle with an expired registration plate
* Operating a vehicle without liability insurance

According to the magistrate’s order, Sandy allegedly received another person’s stolen military identification card, knowing or having reasonable grounds to believe it had been stolen.

Deputies also allege he drove while impaired at Marks Creek Road and Knightdale Boulevard and possessed a pipe containing white residue. The documents do not identify the substance associated with the residue.

CLINTON WOMAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN DEADLY HOUSE FIRE

CLINTON, N.C. — A Clinton woman has been arrested on murder, first-degree arson and felony cruelty to animals charges following a September house fire that claimed the life of Mozzelle Register Hope.

Clinton police announced that Diane Lambert was arrested this morning in connection with the fatal fire at 1009 Bradshaw Street. She is being held without bond at the Sampson County Detention Center.

Police officers and firefighters responded to the single-family home around 8:47 p.m. on September 9, 2026, and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house.

Firefighters entered the burning home to search for anyone trapped inside. They found an unconscious occupant and carried her outside, where medics provided treatment before transporting her to a hospital.

On September 11, detectives learned that Hope had died from her injuries. The case became a fatal fire investigation, and Clinton police requested assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Authorities have not released details about what led investigators to charge Lambert or the circumstances surrounding the felony cruelty to animals charge.

The investigation remains active and involves the Clinton Police Department, SBI and Sampson County Fire Marshal’s Office.

CARY MAN CHARGED WITH DEFRAUDING TAXI SERVICE

CARY, N.C. — A Cary man is facing a misdemeanor charge after authorities accused him of using a false statement to defraud a taxi ride service.

Raymond Lamont Hill, 39, is charged with hiring with intent to defraud, according to a Wake County magistrate’s order issued October 6.

The charge stems from an alleged incident on October 5. Court documents allege Hill defrauded the service through a false statement made with the intent to deceive. The paperwork does not describe the statement or list the amount involved.

Cary Police arrested Hill in connection with the case.
