GRIFTON MAN FACING FRAUD, DRUG CHARGES IN PITT AND GREENE COUNTIES

EASTERN N.C. — A Grifton man is facing charges in both Pitt and Greene counties, including allegations that he repeatedly pawned property he did not own and separate drug charges involving co***ne and ma*****na.

According to court records, Kenneth Lee Hodges, 48, is charged in Pitt County with:

* Felony Conspiracy
* Six counts of Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretense

A Pitt County arrest warrant alleges Hodges conspired with another person to obtain money from J&W Pawn Shop in Ayden by false pretenses.

Court documents allege Hodges pawned several items while falsely representing himself as their owner. The property listed in the charging documents includes 37 DVDs, a Sanyo DVD/Blu-ray player, a Montgomery Ward stereo system, a Pioneer car CD player, a Heat Surge electric heater and a Crosley record player.

The alleged transactions occurred between December 2023 and February 2026, according to the warrant.

Hodges is also facing a separate case in Greene County following an August 6, 2026 arrest.

Greene County court records list the following charges:

* Two counts of Felony Possession of Co***ne
* Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substances
* Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
* Possession of Ma*****na Up to 1/2 Ounce

Charging documents allege Hodges possessed co***ne and ma*****na and maintained a blue Dodge Caravan that was used for keeping or using controlled substances. Authorities also allege he possessed a silver-colored pipe with blue tape that was intended for use with a controlled substance.

The Greene County case was investigated by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, while the Pitt County allegations were investigated by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.

RALEIGH WOMAN ARRESTED ON FELONY STOLEN VEHICLE CHARGE

RALEIGH, N.C. — A 19-year-old Raleigh woman has been arrested after police allege she was in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

According to Wake County court records, Destiny Tyshanell General, 19, was arrested on August 18, 2026, by the Raleigh Police Department.

General is charged with:

* Felony Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle

Charging documents allege General unlawfully and knowingly possessed a stolen motor vehicle in Wake County.

General was scheduled to appear in Wake County District Court on August 19, 2026.

RALEIGH 20-YEAR-OLD FACES FINANCIAL CARD THEFT, FRAUD CHARGES

RALEIGH, N.C. — A 20-year-old Raleigh resident is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after NC State University Police allege stolen financial cards were used to make purchases and money transfers.

According to Wake County court records, Phabion Rajiae Hinton, 20, is charged with:

* Two counts of Felony Financial Card Theft
* Three counts of Misdemeanor Financial Card Fraud
* Misdemeanor Larceny

Court documents allege Hinton took two financial transaction cards belonging to another person, including a Northwest Federal Credit Union card and a Cash App card, without the cardholder’s consent.

Investigators further allege one of the cards was used to make unauthorized purchases, including merchandise from an online clothing store, while the Cash App card was allegedly used to complete three $10 money transfers totaling $30.

Hinton is also accused of stealing the victim’s North Carolina driver’s license and DoorDash-related transaction cards, according to the warrant.

The alleged offenses occurred on August 14, 2026, and the arrest warrant was issued on August 16, 2026.

The case was investigated by the NC State University Police Department.
