For more than 25 years, Frank Ballard helped make Hayes Barton Cafe & Dessertery more than a neighborhood restaurant. 🍽️

It became a place where friends gathered, milestones were celebrated, and countless memories were made. ❤️

Alongside his wife, Marget, Frank brought warmth and genuine hospitality to Five Points, treating guests like old friends and helping create a true neighborhood institution. His legacy lives on in every shared slice of cake, familiar greeting, and cherished memory made at the cafe. ✨

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Marget, the Ballard family, and the entire Hayes Barton Cafe team. 🌹

When breast cancer changes a life, community support can help change what comes next. 💕

Pretty In Pink Foundation helps eligible North Carolina breast cancer patients with expenses including surgery, chemotherapy administration, radiation treatment, insurance deductibles and premiums, and office copays. Under Hayes Barton resident Becky Horn’s leadership, the organization has served more than 3,000 patients across 95 North Carolina counties. 🎀

For Becky, the mission is personal. Her own breast cancer journey and double mastectomy gave her a firsthand understanding of what patients face. Today, she channels that experience into helping others focus on their health instead of the financial burden of treatment. 🌷

Discover how one neighbor is making a difference across North Carolina in the October issue. 💗

For Frank and Virginia Gordon, home and community have always gone hand in hand. 🏡

Their eye-catching corner home in Hayes Barton is hard to miss. Frank completely renovated the historic house himself, finishing the project in 2020, while Virginia transformed the yard into a vibrant garden that often inspires passersby to stop and take photos. 🌸

Today, that same dedication is helping shape something bigger. Through AnimalKind, Frank and Virginia are supporting the creation of a new Community Veterinary Clinic designed to expand access to affordable care and help more Raleigh pets stay with the families who love them. 🐾

From caring for their historic home to caring for animals across Raleigh, the Gordons are putting their passion into the community they love. ❤️

Great communities are built through relationships, and Fall for Five Points gives neighbors a reason to come together. 🧡

Now in its 5th year, the festival celebrates everything that makes Five Points a special place to live, work, and gather, from local businesses and organizations to music, food, shopping, and kids’ activities. 🎵

The vision is simple: make Five Points more than a neighborhood where people live. Make it a community where people truly belong. ✨
