“I’m looking at these people and saying I really want them to get rid of the weight them came in to the show with,” he says. “They come from work or family things, and lose themselves in ninety minutes of pure enjoyment. They escape from what the world says you have to do and have a moment of fun, clean bliss. They remember what it means to laugh.”

Lawson sees his talent as a gift. When he can share parts of his life that have been difficult, and put a comedic twist on them, it resonates with those who have been through similar experiences. The result is hope.
