Construction of the $16.8 million Ramona-Barona pipeline project got underway May 27 with a groundbreaking ceremony at the Barona Fire Station. The Barona Band of Mission Indians and Ramona Municipal Water District have been collaborating to design and build the pipeline to provide water and recycled water to the tribal reservation.
The project is designed to improve long-term water reliability for the Barona Band by bringing in new sources of drinking and recycled water, officials say.
