Cloquet Terminal SW1, number 31 was built in 1941 for the Elgin Joliet and Eastern. In 2007, we caught this unit working for the Cloquet Terminal in Cloquet Minnesota. Here we see it switching wood cars for the Sappi Paper mill. Check out our latest drop on YouTube featuring this unique short line.

Travel with C. Vision Productions in the year 2007 to northern Minnesota to see a fabulous shortline! It is in Cloquet, Minnesota where the Cloquet Terminal operates switching duties. Formerly known as the Duluth and Northeastern, this shortline uses a 1941 built SW1 locomotive along with a SW1000. They tend to freight car movement for the Sappi Paper Mill, Specialty Minerals and USG's ceiling tile plant. They also interchange traffic with the BNSF.

University Junction in Minneapolis, Minnesota is one of many hot spots in the Twin Cities area. University is located in north Minneapolis just south of BNSF’s Northtown and 35th Avenue Yards We visited University in the winter months in January to March of 2009.
Lots of different locomotives from EMD and GE fill the interest of every railfan on this program. BNSF, CP, SOO, NS, CSX, UP and CN power provide the colorful array of paint schemes.

Photographer Fred Crissey captured several Midwestern Milwaukee Road lines in the 1970’s. First, we see trains on the line between Mason City and Marquette, Iowa. Then we travel along the Mississippi River from Savanna, Illinois and northward in Iowa. It is on this line that “F” units were charge of freights! Then, you will enjoy the action on two Wisconsin Branch Lines from 1978. An SD-9 works the Mineral Point to Janesville train and SD-10 number 555 is in charge of the Sparta to Viroqua train. Fred also followed the Milwaukee Road from Kansas City, Missouri to Ottumwa, Iowa just after the Soo Line purchased the Milwaukee in 1986.

In our journey, witness the variety of traffic the IC&E ran on their Chicago Sub., their gateway to the windy city. The tour will begin on the rails of the Belt Railway of Chicago, the windy city terminus for most of IC&E’s trains and will cover their movements on Metra/CP’s Elgin Sub back to home rails west towards Savanna, Illinois.
