BNSF's Staples Sub is a part of the ex-Northern Pacific Transcontinental main line that stretches from Chicago to the Pacific Northwest ports of Portland, Seattle and Tacoma. The Staples Sub itself runs from Dilworth to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Following the route of US Highway 10, the staples sub is divided into two dispatching territories with the west end running from Dilworth to Staples. In this presentation, we cover the 128-mile east end from Staples to University Junction in Minneapolis. Travel along the beautiful countryside of Minnesota where the Staples Sub encounters rolling prairies, unique city's and classic small towns.

Nebraska is known as a railroading hotspot. Along with the Union Pacific and BNSF, several short lines operate through the Cornhusker State. C. Vision takes a look at three of these unique short lines. Take a journey back in time to visit the Nebkota Railway in 1995 when it operated with a pair of FP-7As. The Nebraska Northeastern operates on ex Burlington Northern rails from O’Neill to Sioux City, Iowa. We catch a train heading east on the most scenic part of the line from Osmond to Allen, hauling popcorn and ethanol. Finally, we view the largest short line operation in Nebraska. The Nebraska Central operates 5 line segments in the east central part of the state. The NCRC will treat us to in cab operations in Norfolk, two SD-38 dash 2s on the Ord Sub, and a former MKT GP-40 operating the Stromsburg Sub. You will also see an ex-Rio Grande SD-45 working from Oconee to Genoa and an interchange train with the U.P. in Columbus.

This video showcases three of Chicago’s short line and regionals from the years 1999-2009. First, we visit the South Chicago & Indiana Harbor. Formerly known as Chicago Short Line, this railroad is a switching operation in the south Calumet region of Chicago’s south side moving products from the local steel mills. This railroad uses a pair of switching locomotives and a way car.
Then we see some trains from the Wisconsin and Southern. The classy red and silver locomotives put on a great show in the daylight and at night.
Finally, we get to see the then newly formed Chicago, Ft. Wayne and Eastern. Locomotives from the Indiana and Ohio, Florida East Coast and Southern Pacific were common on the CFW&E.

Join C. Vision Productions as we take a tour of Norfolk Southern’s Lafayette District. Running on ex-Wabash rails, the Lafayette District runs from Decatur, Illinois to West Peru, Indiana. This line is a main artery for automobile and auto parts traffic traveling between Detroit, Michigan and Kansas City, Missouri. Along with the autos, many other types of freight can be seen along this line including grain and coal. Norfolk Southern has a wide variety of locomotive models and this program showcases many of them. Included are rebuilt SD60E’s, Caterpillar powered PR43C’s, C40-9’s, GEVO’s, SD-70ACe’s, Ex-Conrail C40-8W’s and SD60I’s with some still in Conrail Blue! Plus, special appearances of their New York Central and Lehigh Valley Heritage units. That’s not all! Nickel Plate Steam Locomotive number 765 is also captured on a special!

Dolton Junction, a busy multi-diamond crossing located 20 miles from Downtown Chicago, was a place once synonymous with railroad greats like the Pennsylvania, Chicago and Western Indiana, Missouri Pacific, Louisville and Nashville and the Baltimore and Ohio Chicago Terminal. Times have changed, mergers have occurred and some track arrangements have been made, but one constant remains at Dolton: the endless parade of trains by this once manned IHB interlocking tower.

Videographer Marshall Beecher takes his cameras to several locations along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe's Triple Track Main from Chicago to Aurora. This ex-Chicago Burlington and Quincy main line does double duty as it hosts trains traversing to and from the Twin Cities on the Aurora Sub and Galesburg on the Mendota Sub. Numerous high priority intermodal, coal and general freight trains share these rails with Amtrak and Metra. Run-through trains from the Canadian National and Union Pacific also operate on the Triple Track.

In this program, videographer Marshall Beecher takes his cameras to multiple mainline crossings at the always busy Blue Island Junction. This location, most often distinguished by the big steel bridges spanning the Calumet Sag Channel, has a multitude of activity from host roads Indiana Harbor Belt, CSX, Canadian National and Metra's Rock Island District, which passes over the south end of the junction. Throw in a wide variety of pool power and the appearance of run-through moves by roads Canadian Pacific, Union Pacific and BNSF and you will see why Blue Island Junction is such a great Chicagoland hotspot.

We head to Chicago Heights, Illinois at Jay Tower. This location is the crossing of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern and the Union Pacific/CSX. The variety of trains at this location makes it a favorite among many area railfans! Bright orange locomotives from the EJ&E, along with the high horsepower monsters from the UP and CSX thunder over the diamonds at Jay Tower. Our cameras were even treated to a couple appearances of the Union Pacific's Katy and MoPac Heritage Locomotives! If you like the sound of trains pounding diamonds, you will love this video!

We continue our look at Chicago area railroads. This time, we visit West Chicago in the years 2004-2006. Here, the Elgin Joliet & Eastern's West Chicago Tower at Turner Junction is still in operation as it protects the crossing with the Union Pacific's ex-Chicago & North Western Overland Route. Along with the EJ&E, numerous high horsepower Union Pacific trains pound the diamonds at Turner Junction. Metra also uses this route providing a flurry of activity. You will even see Union Pacific's Olympic and United Way locomotives heading up a mixed freight!

In this video, we visit the Tower B-12 Vicinity in Franklin Park. B-12 has seen many changes in the years and the action when this video was captured is just as exciting! Canadian Pacific, Metra, Indiana Harbor Belt and Canadian National are the regulars at B-12. Fallen Flag locomotives from the current railroads make frequent appearances including Soo Line and Illinois Central. Other railroads visit the B-12 area including CSX, Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern and Iowa Chicago & Eastern.
