Emma was a proud resident of Rancho Murieta with Donald for 39 years, where she worked as a real estate agent and broker for 30 years.
Emma was a native of Armenia, Quindio, Colombia, in the heart of the coffee state, cofounded by her father starting in 1964, and finalized as the last state formed in Colombia in 1966 after his death. Emma had a deep love for the Holy Mother Mary, who she prayed to for intercession throughout her childhood and life after her mother’s death when she was 9. She often said Mary was her mother. Emma moved to America permanently in 1965 and was sworn in as a citizen in 1982, a very special event in her life.
During her life Emma was an interior designer, a painter and had a deep interest in art and design. Emma had impeccable taste and had an innate sense and understanding of color and beauty. Emma’s favorite place was the condo at the Inn at Otter Crest and the Oregon coast nearby. Emma’s family and travel were her two biggest passions.
We will remember Emma for her fierce independence which gave her the strength and will to immigrate here with her then four children without any clear support from anyone but herself, her tough and loving parenting style, always challenging us to be our best, and her never-ending love for her family and her husband, Donald, her favorite person on the planet to the end.
Friends, family and others are invited to Mission Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 14673 Cantova Way, Rancho Murieta. Memorial service Friday, October 4, at 2:30 p.m., with reception to follow in Anderson Hall, to reminisce and honor the life of Emma.
