On Sunday, December 14, from 11am to 2pm, join Amazing Strays at The Forum Carlsbad on the lawn near YETI to meet your new best fur-riend!

Adoption fees are $495 which includes up-to-date vaccines, a microchip, and spaying/neutering.

If you aren't ready to adopt, you can come and learn about how to get involved. Amazing Strays is always looking for fosters, volunteers, and monetary and supply donations, such as dog beds, dog food, crates, etc.

Amazing Strays Rescue is a nonprofit, volunteer-based, all-breed dog and cat rescue that knows no geographical boundaries. They are dedicated to rescuing homeless or at-risk pets, focusing on creating safe environments for the forgotten or neglected, by finding homes for the rehabilitated and healthy, and aiding in the efforts to combat overpopulation and the spread of disease.

// A Day That Will Live in Infamy

Yesterday, Sunday, December 7, marked 84 years since the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

Hawaii was not yet a state in 1941, and at the time, most Americans had to look up Pearl Harbor on a map. But because of its strategic location, it was already home to our Pacific fleet.

There were eight battleships in port that Sunday morning, each one named after a state in the Union. One was in drydock, but the other seven were struck by bombs or torpedoes and most were hit by both. Two capsized and the other five sank to the bottom, accounting for 1,958 of the 2,403 U.S. military personnel and civilians who were killed in the attack.

Roppongi has returned to La Jolla. ✨

Officially opening December 4 with reservations officially live today, December 3, Roppongi , the iconic restaurant and lounge by celebrated restaurateur Sami Ladeki, is back in its original La Jolla location, blending elevated Asian cuisine with an immersive new design.

The design, the result of a collaboration between Ladeki and acclaimed interior designer Stephanie Parisi, features Stephanie Parisi Studio’s signature artistry throughout, with gold-brushed curved walls, softly arched ceilings, a sculptural leathered quartzite bar, and museum-quality Buddha replicas framing the original Roppongi fireplace.

On the menu: all the beloved classics (Crab Stack, Hot Rock, Mongolian Shrimp, Tahitian Bananas), plus sushi artistry, wok-fired dishes, shareables, and craft cocktails. Dinner nightly 5-10pm; bar open until midnight.
