A new FCC Order simplifies certain registration and certification requirements and eliminates some duplicative compliance paperwork. The underlying captioning requirements, however, remain in place.

Non-exempt programming still needs to be captioned, and the FCC's standards for accuracy, synchronization, completeness, and placement aren't going anywhere.

Our latest blog breaks down what's changing, what isn't, and what it means for broadcasters and video programmers.

Accessibility technology continues to take some exciting steps forward.

Google DeepMind recently introduced a new sign-language-to-text AI model designed to translate sign language directly into written text. The technology is already making its way into consumer devices, beginning with ASL-to-English support in Gboard and Live Transcribe on Pixel 11.

It's exciting to see continued innovation focused on making communication and technology more accessible and to see these tools beginning to move from research into people's everyday lives.

Yesterday marked 36 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law.

The ADA changed the way we think about access and inclusion, helping ensure that people with disabilities can more fully participate in education, employment, public services, and everyday life.

Accessibility has come a long way over the past 36 years, but the work continues. Every improvement, whether through accessible technology or greater awareness, helps create more inclusive experiences where everyone can participate.

This year also brought renewed attention to digital accessibility through updates to ADA Title II, reinforcing that accessible websites, mobile apps, and digital content remain an essential part of equal access. While implementation timelines have shifted, the commitment to accessibility has not.

We're proud to play a small part in that mission every day.

If you're still working through what the latest ADA Title II changes mean, our breakdown covers what changed, what didn't, and what organizations should focus on next:

In less than a week, we'll be heading to the AHEAD - Association on Higher Education And Disability Annual Conference, and we can't wait to connect with accessibility professionals from colleges and universities across the country.

This spring, we helped colleges and universities make commencement more accessible with live captions, multilingual translation, and accessible streaming. We also shared the biggest accessibility trends we observed from the 2026 commencement season.

Thank you to everyone who joined Matthew Day's session this morning at CSU+UC EPN!

Matthew was pleased to present "Fostering Belonging: AI Translation for an Inclusive Event" alongside Kelly Carland and Alex Murillo from UC Irvine.

Together, they explored how AI-powered captioning and translation can create more inclusive campus events, along with what the new Title II accessibility requirements mean for colleges and universities.

Attendees also had the opportunity to experience our live captioning and multilingual translation during the session. The live demo will continue throughout the remaining conference sessions, so if you're attending, we encourage you to give it a try.

If you have a question Matthew didn't get a chance to answer, or if you'd like to learn more about bringing these solutions to your campus, stop by the Aberdeen Broadcast Services booth. We'd love to connect.

Thank you for being part of the conversation!
