Part three of our Colorado run. This week it's Breckenridge Bourbon, the bottle you've walked past a hundred times. 🥃

The founder was a radiologist who went fly fishing, stood knee-deep in snowmelt, and decided he'd make whiskey. Then sold his house to do it. 🏔️

We get into what altitude does to a barrel, a heavyweight surprise out of Tennessee, and one question we couldn't drop: what does this stuff taste like before the blend?

There's a new Tennessee whiskey on the shelf. Sazerac (the Buffalo Trace folks) just rolled out AJ Bond, going head to head with the most famous name in the category.

So be honest: would you actually switch from Jack Daniel's if a new Tennessee whiskey turned out to be better? Or is Jack just too much a part of the culture to ever give up that spot?

Tell us where you land.

This Thursday on Whiskey@Work 🥃

We're climbing to the highest distillery in the country... where a burned-out doctor sold his house to chase a dream nearly two miles above sea level.

Thin mountain air. Snowmelt water. Barrels that lose a quarter of everything inside them to the sky. 🏔️

This week's bottle has a story most folks have never heard.

For most whiskey drinkers, the term “chill filtered” shows up on a label and gets skipped right over.

A surveyor stood in the Colorado mountains in 1874, pointed at a peak, and named it after a volcano in a Jules Verne novel. 🌋

That mountain ended up on the state license plate.

It also ended up on the bottle we're pouring this week. 🥃 Tin Cup Fourteen, the Mount Sneffels release. Same guy behind Stranahan's, a quiet splash of single malt hiding inside, and fourteen years of patience in oak.

There's a ghost town in this story too. And a couple of dead marshals.

New episode out now. 🎙️https://homesliceaudio.com/whiskey

If you loved last week's deep dive into Stranahan's, you're going to want to hear what the same founder did next.

This week we're climbing to 14,000 feet, drinking a bottle aged 14 years, and telling the story of a Colorado ghost town, a Jules Verne novel, and the mountain on Colorado's driver's license.

🥃 New episode Thursday.
