THE GOOD
Mississippi achieves record reading scores! Extra impressive to do so in a time where getting kids to read is increasingly more difficult.
THE BAD
The Trump administration, particularly under EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and with influence from figures like Elon Musk, significantly dismantled or weakened the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by eliminating the Office of Research and Development, the Office of Environmental Justice (OEJ), and the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, while slashing budgets and rescinding regulations. These actions aimed to reduce regulatory burdens, particularly for industries like oil, mining, and agriculture, leading to the removal of scientific assessments, axing programs supporting environmental justice, and halting climate-related research, which critics argued would harm public health and communities.
