I wanted to share this. This is deep. For over 20 + years, I have thrown the boat cruises. Capt Dennis was our captain for almost all of them. He has since moved on from the QueenCity Riverboats.
This past weekend, when I was cleaning up at the end of our last cruise, I looked out and I saw someone staring at me with a smile. It was Captain Dennis. I went out and gave him a big hug. I asked him, what are you doing here? He said, I heard you were doing another cruise and I just wanted to come and check on you. I really can’t tell you how much that meant to me. So many cruises… So many mishaps… So much time spent with that guy. Sometimes, when the parties got too heavy, I would go up into the captains deck, and sit with him. We would smoke ci******es, and he would let me drive the boat. Yes, there were times everybody was raving and I was driving the boat lol. We had a great conversation. It meant so much to me. To know that not only have I reached ravers, and partiers, and spread my love that way, but to know that this guy saw what I was doing, and was tapped into it. He was such a part of it. He navigated us through so many storms and crazy times, and was a part of it all behind the scenes.
So, here’s to you, Captain Dennis. The man behind the scenes, the true Captain, the navigator.
This was it… I am done… 24 years, it was an amazing run…
Thanks for all of the support. I did it for all of you. To help you alleviate a bit of your stress in life. If at only one point in life, you didn’t feel the strain of everything… I did my job
Much love to you all
