I can still find Waverly at my local Walmart stores, Walmart online, and even on Amazon — but for how long? It seems Plaid has decided to discontinue this amazing line, and if you’re reading this, you probably love it as much as I do!
Affordable, reliable, and easy to find — Waverly has been a staple for so many of us DIYers and crafters.

So the question is… what now?

As someone who’s been creating, repurposing, and reselling for over half a decade, I’ve been testing alternatives — and I’ve found my new favorite:
✨ DIY chalk paints!

Here’s why they’ve earned a permanent spot on my craft table:

Affordable per ounce: The cost isn’t much more than Waverly, and it stretches even further.

Mix it to last longer: Add a bit of water, and the paint goes a long way — helping you save without sacrificing coverage.

Revive it when it dries out: If your paint thickens or dries up, just grind it down and add distilled water — it comes right back to life!

Great coverage: Two coats usually do the trick. I’ve used other non-artisan brands that take three or more coats, and when you compare cost vs. coverage, those “cheaper” paints don’t save you much at all.

Non-toxic: This one’s my favorite! As a crafter, DIYer, and maker, I love knowing I’m using something safer in my workspace.

DIY wood filler!! It really works!

💯Tips my father taught me over the years doing home renovations I found has helped me with my furniture upcycles and DIY projects!

✔️DIY Wood Filler
Save the sawdust from your project and mix it with wood glue. This creates a perfect filler to patch small cracks, gaps, or even cover up an over-drilled hole. Once dry, sand it smooth and it blends right in.
✔️Smooth Finish Prep
Use fine sawdust as a final buffing agent. After sanding, rub a bit of the dust into open grain woods (like oak) before sealing or staining—it helps fill micro pores for a smoother, more professional finish.
