The California Energy Commission (CEC) has announced a public meeting on the Staff Assessment and Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Fountain Wind Project. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel in Redding (Sierra Room, 1830 Hilltop Drive) and will also be available via Zoom.

The purpose of the meeting is to present the CEC’s Staff Assessment—including the Draft EIR—and to gather input from government agencies, tribal representatives, and the public. The CEC staff analysis previously concluded that the Fountain Wind Project would result in significant and unavoidable environmental impacts, and recommended denial of the project.

The CEC is not expected to make a final decision on the Fountain Wind Project at the May 20 public meeting. This meeting is focused on presenting the Staff Assessment and receiving public comment. A final decision will be made at a future CEC Public Meeting following the release of the final EIR and consideration of all submitted feedback.

Shasta County strongly encourages residents to participate in the May 20 meeting, either in person or remotely, to ensure their voices are heard. This project would have lasting impacts on the region’s environment, public safety, and natural resources.
