Residents push back on Yucaipa warehouse approval

A group of Redlands and Yucaipa residents has launched a campaign to overturn the City Council’s 4–1 vote approving the Pacific Oaks Commerce Center — a 2 million-square-foot warehouse project adjacent to Live Oak Canyon.

Organizers say they need to raise $50,000 by the end of this week to hire professional circulators and gather about 4,700 voter signatures required for a referendum on the November ballot.

Supporters of the project say it’s a long-term investment in Yucaipa’s financial health. Opponents argue it will bring thousands of diesel trucks through the canyon, worsening traffic, pollution, and threatening open space.

🚛 A revised plan for a 193,469-square-foot distribution warehouse on Tennessee Street was approved by the Redlands Planning Commission on June 24.

The approval comes just over a year after the commission denied a similar warehouse plan following intense public backlash over traffic, air quality and proximity to nearby schools.

This time, commissioners said the updated proposal met all current zoning and design standards and emphasized that broader concerns fell outside their decision-making authority.
