Ashford Gordon carries the torch of Contemporary Blues with deep roots in the rich musical heritage of Starkville, Mississippi. His sound is a living testament to the Hill Country blues of northeastern Mississippi, shaped further by the electrifying pulse of 1950s Rhythm & Blues from the Pruitt-Igoe Projects in St. Louis.
Gordon’s artistry was nurtured during his formative years in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he was immersed in a vibrant blend of Blues and Gospel. His music weaves together these powerful influences, creating a voice that is at once timeless and urgently modern—a true standard-bearer for the next generation of the Blues. Ashford is appearing this Saturday July 19, 4-6 PM at Harbor View Park, 3600 Harbor Blvd, Oxnard for the 2025 Channel Islands Harbor Concerts by the Sea Series with his band, The Blues Angels, featuring Eric Monteith on Bass Guitar, Jay Loverde on Keyboards and Vocals, and Donna Eveland on Drums.
