Hey there! Iām Maddi, the owner of Sound House, a music lessons and songwriting studio located next to Town Hall in Re*****on, Virginia. I want to tell you a little bit about myself so that you can suss out my vibes.
Music: Iāve been an active musician and songwriter for nearly three decades. I started learning to play the guitar when I was five years old. Iāve performed about 550+ shows as an adult, both solo and as a member of psychedelic and folk rock bands. My discography - including my 2020 EP Quiet Corners - has amassed 120k+ streams in 70+ countries and has been added to 1.1k+ playlists on Spotify alone. Those arenāt viral stats, but since I didnāt pay a single cent for promo, I see those numbers as a testament to the quality of my work so far. These days, I spend more time writing and producing for other independent artists and working on my own alter-ego project (iykyk).
Coaching: Iāve been educating and mentoring musicians for the past fourteen years, five of those as the owner of Sound House. I am genuinely happy to spend quality time working on music with folks because I know firsthand how music can be a safe space for big personal growth. Whether youāre challenging your brain and body by learning a new instrument, digging deeper into your thoughts and feelings as a songwriter, confronting fears as you find your singing voice, or just trying to make space for more peace and joy in your life, I truly am dedicated to making Sound House a safe space for you to grow.
Becoming: Getting to this point in my life was extra challenging because I started adulthood as a homeless teenager with no support and a bunch of trauma to work through. Despite suffering and setbacks, I stayed relentlessly persistent and paid my dues. From dive bars to theaters - from spare rooms to private schools - from home studios to professional studios, I worked hard to learn and to earn so that I could eventually do this on my own. Through the process of overcoming, I definitely think that I made myself into someone who is uniquely suited to do the work that I do now - and to do it with a lot of heart and authentic care. Iām now in the fortunate situation to be able to share what Iāve learned and to keep learning alongside the community Iām building through Sound House.
If you made it this far, I really appreciate you sticking around. If the vibes are good, please give this account a follow and stick around to watch Sound House grow. You can also email me at [email protected] to see how you might be able to get more involved.
