This arrangement of “Mad World” by Tears For Fears as covered by Gary Jules is fun to learn/teach. If anyone wants to add a depressing song to their repertoire, hit me up.

Pet Motel serenaded the Re*****on Farmers’ Market last week. Later today, come listen to Josh Godowsky perform from 4:00-6:00 pm. You can stretch your legs, soak up the sunshine, and pick up a few treats while you’re at it. The market is located right next to the Re*****on Town Hall and DMV, next door to Sound House.

Here’s a little bit of StriVe covering “Where Is My Mind?” by The Pixies. Their second original single “Blue” comes out this Saturday, October 18th.

P.S. Balloons suck. You either keep them until they deflate and end up in the trash OR they float away and THEN deflate, fall, and contaminate wherever they land. A few hours after the Fall Festival, we actually found one of these exact balloons popped out on our farm twelve minutes away from town.

Wes, Homer, and Josh crushed as Blush (formerly Zero) at the Re*****on Fall Festival. See them again on Friday, October 24th at a house show in Madison. DM for the address.

Wasn’t it so nice to be out in the sunshine and fresh air on Saturday with our Sound House friends and Re*****on neighbors?! For us, the Fall Festival was full of music-making, art-selling, hanging out with friends, and talking about the studio.

Highlights:
🍁 Anna’s Whimsical Wares (my student) and The Crafty Ladybug (Damian’s mom) found new homes for lots of their handmade treasures.
🍁 The Scoundrels, Blush, and StriVe performed on the big stage back-to-back and worked together as a team to do so efficiently.
🍁 A bunch of our friends came by to hang out including Addison, Julianne, Ishy, and many more. It’s always good to see you guys out enjoying the day with your loved ones.

Join us on Saturday, October 11th for the 43rd annual Re*****on Fall Festival – an autumnal celebration featuring local businesses, craft vendors, food trucks, and FREE live entertainment from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

You definitely don’t want to miss our Sound House bands performing from 1:15 to 3:00 PM. Catch The Scoundrels, Blush, and StriVe (in that order) lighting up the main stage right across the street from our studio. The full entertainment lineup also includes performances by For A Dancer, Cathy’s Line Dancers, Chip Burgoon, and Curt & Rob’s Acoustic Duo.

While there will be 90+ craft vendors and 8 food vendors to visit, you’ll also want to stop by the Sound House booth located directly in front of the studio to hang out with Maddi and Damian for a bit. This will be the perfect time to bring friends by to check out the studio, snag brochures, and take pictures with our guardian skeletons, Syndey and Pinkerton. We’d love to see members of the Sound House Community out and about, supporting our little studio in the heart of Re*****on.

wrapped up our first 8-week farmers’ market concert series last Thursday with stellar vocals and charming original songs. Thanks for driving all the way from Wi******er to share your songs with our little town, Ella!

The Town of Re*****on has enjoyed our music so much that they’ve asked us to keep it going a little bit longer. We’ll take this week off (although the farmers’ market is still happening), and then we’ll pick up with three more market music concerts in October: .mckenney on the 9th, .godowsky on the 16th, and with on the 23rd.

Josh Godowsky (.godowsky) crushed his farmers’ market set last week. Here’s a bit of “Lonesome Town” by Ricky Nelson. Thanks again to Pete () for gifting our musicians delicious gluten free pastries.

This week at the Re*****on Farmers’ Market, listen to charming songwriter Ella Drury (). You may recognize her name because she recently opened for The Sunstones () at a community garden show. We all love her songs, and I bet you will too.

Sound House student Ismail “Ishy” Omarjee-Chavez released his newest album Lam on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Of the songs, Ishy says, “Lam [intentional spelling] is a raw, messy collection of songs about sacrifice, growth, and trying to hold onto the pieces of yourself that others try to take away. This project was written during a dark period where I was full of anger, sadness, and grief, trying to make sense of all the chaos I was facing at the time. I made this album because I had something I needed to say, and I feel this project perfectly communicates everything I wanted it to. It has left its impact on me and I hope it can do the same to whoever is going through something similar.”

Two years ago, Caroline started studying guitar and vocals with me. But I knew from the start that guitar and vocals weren’t the actual end-goal for Caroline. You see, Caroline is like me. She’s a storyteller. She’s a maker. She’s a “let’s turn this into something useful” type of person. So yes, Caroline started by sharpening a couple of her tools: guitar and vocals. And then she jumped right into the rushing waters of composition, production, and performance.

I got to be her guide during this process. We built up her strengths, patched up little rough spots, and experimented with tools and techniques. She shared her experiments with me, trusted me with her stories, and savored every bit of experience I could share with her. I got to witness a fellow musician falling back in love with music, giving herself permission to play. And she just so happened to write and record an entire EP worth of songs along the way, completely independently.

Here’s my call to action: Pease take twenty minutes to sit down and listen to Revisited. As you do, think about embracing yourself fully. Think about giving yourself total permission to think differently, to feel deeply, and to try hard. Think about a dream or a project you’ve been putting off, and think about putting it higher up on your list of priorities. Think about welcoming your past, present, and future selves to guide you through the process of actually doing the special thing you’ve been meaning to do. Those are the kinds of thoughts that Revisited is going to inspire in those who take the time to sit with it.
