Caleb and Kai of .veband crushed their farmers’ market set yesterday! These guys are on a roll: single release and full band show last Saturday, duo set yesterday, and new music and show dates in the works.

When I walked over after teaching, Pat of was sitting in front of the gazebo sketching beautiful portraits of the boys. Please go check out her artwork and consider hiring her to draw you! Pete of hooked Caleb and Kai up with some delicious gluten free treats too.

We’ve got three more weeks of market music planned! Next Thursday, and will be in the gazebo making music 4:00-6:00 pm.

I don’t even know where to start with photos and videos from the It’s Not Over Yet! show on Saturday… so let’s begin with a little taste of Isabel Blackwell’s set. Her gorgeous vocals, introspective original songs, and crowd-favorite covers filled the community garden with golden energy - a perfect start to our evening of music and community. Thanks for sharing your work with us, ! And thanks for coming out to support your songbird, . (I enjoyed our chat. 💟)

Our market musician of the week Jamie Christian root-strummed her way through a couple hours of country tunes including “It Ain’t Me Babe” (Bob Dylan covered by Johnny Cash) and “One Piece At A Time” (also by Johnny Cash). Her super sweet vocals gave old songs a fresh twist. Speaking of fresh twists, thanks to for gifting Jamie a pumpkin spice roll during her set. And thanks to our music-loving friend Sebastian for coming out to support our Re*****on Farmers’ Market music series.

We’re three weeks into our eight-week farmers’ market music series here in the town of Re*****on!

Last week, Sound House student Josh Godowsky serenaded the gazebo with groovy, reverberating tunes like “Terrapin” by Syd Barrett. After his set, Chris of hooked him up with kebabs of savory barbecued chicken. Catch Josh playing guitar with and drums with .veband this Saturday at the Re*****on Community Garden, 5:30-8:30 pm.

This week, look forward to cowboy songs (lots of Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash) from our favorite local Frankenstein expert and Sound House student, Jamie Christian (). She’s playing right next door to the Town Hall on Thursday (8/28) from 4:00-6:00 pm.

This guy is releasing his debut single “You’re The One” at 12:00 AM on Saturday, August 30th and then playing it live with his band at the IT’S NOT OVER YET! show later that night. Coming VERY soon to a Re*****on Community Garden near you: The IT’S NOT OVER YET! End-of-Summer Concert featuring music from Isabel Blackwell, Caroline Nesbit, The Scoundrels, Old Book, Blush, and StriVe. Hosted by Maddi (the wizard of Sound House) and their husband Damian. EVERYONE IS INVITED! Join us on Saturday, August 30th, 5:30-8:30 PM for a night of FREE music, community, and fresh air.

Supporting the artists and bands: They’re donating their talents to this night of music, so go follow their accounts (tagged) and engage with their content. Then come out to the show with friends, activate yourself in the audience, and connect with the musicians after their sets.

For your comfort: The outdoor stage is surrounded by bench seating, and you can also bring your own folding chairs. We won’t be offering any food or drinks, so BYO if you think you might get hungry or thirsty. Dress however you want; favorite chaotic outfits encouraged.

Mutual aid: If you’d like to bring food to donate to the free pantry, yay! If you’d like to donate money that we can use to go buy food for the free pantry, also yay! If you just want to come be present with no strings attached, that’s cool too! We want you there with us no matter how you show up.

The more the merrier! Come frolic with us, neighbors! Share this with friends in the area, please!

Isabel Blackwell () serenaded the Re*****on Farmers’ Market yesterday evening, 4:00-6:00 PM. Her sweet energy super-charges her super-sweet voice. You get another chance to see her here in Re*****on at the IT’S NOT OVER YET! summer concert on August 30th at the Community Garden () alongside .veband, , , The Scoundrels, and .

We’ve scheduled six more of these FREE farmers’ market concerts, every Thursday through the end of September. Why NOT scoot over after work, sit on a bench next to some flowers, listen to songs, and people-watch? It’ll be good for your soul; try it.

Last Tuesday night, I hosted a super-fun studio hangout for some of my middle school musicians. 😍

First we took fun pictures with black angel wings and a hot pink skeleton named Pinkerton in front of silver streamers. Next we sang karaoke and performed songs for each other (Addison shredded on Megadeath, and Fiona played her very first original song). Then we finished off our time together doing the Macarena, the cha cha slide, and lots of very silly free-style dances - all under the disco lights.

I love hosting these little get-togethers. It’s such a joy to help my students meet fellow music-loving kids, build the confidence to share songs with each other, feel safe and care-free enough to get silly, and celebrate how cool it is to just be themselves. I’m so proud of them for showing up and being so kind to each other.

Damian and I gave Sound House a much-needed mini makeover today: weeding, weed-whacking, ripping invasive vines out of the big tree out back, uprooting dead plants, and planting new ones from the clearance section. There’s plenty more to do, but I’m limited by resources and the fact that I don’t own the building. We do our best though, and I think it looks super cute! 🌱
