Lawrence Edmonson Arrested After Alleged Stabbing at Blue Martini in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Lawrence Constantine Edmonson, 52, was arrested following an alleged st@bbing inside Blue Martini, a popular Fort Lauderdale bar and lounge, on the night of Thursday, August 6, 2026.

According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly before 10:40 p.m. to the establishment on E. Sunrise. Multiple callers had reportedly contacted 911 about a st@bbing.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from several stab wounds. The injured man was transported to Broward Health Medical Center in serious condition. Police said he was expected to survive.

Investigators allege that Edmonson and the injured man had been involved in an altercation before the st@bbing. Edmonson reportedly left the area afterward.

Police used license-plate-reader cameras to locate Edmonson’s vehicle. Officers then deployed a Grappler device, which is designed to immobilize a fleeing vehicle by entangling one of its rear wheels. The vehicle was stopped, and Edmonson was taken into custody.

Authorities said Edmonson had sustained minor injuries during the earlier confrontation. He was subsequently charged with attempted murder and held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail as of Friday afternoon.

Police had not publicly released the injured man’s name or further details about what allegedly led to the confrontation.

The charge against Edmonson remains an allegation. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

###TENTACION’S FINAL DAY: A $50,000 ROBBERY THAT ENDED WITH THREE MEN SENTENCED TO LIFE

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — Rapper ###Tentacion was only 20 years old when a trip to a Broward County motorcycle dealership ended in a robbery, a fatal sh00ting and one of South Florida’s most closely followed murder trials.

###Tentacion, whose legal name was Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, was leaving RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach on June 18, 2018, when a dark SUV blocked his BMW.

Surveillance video showed two masked men exit the SUV and confront Onfroy while he sat inside his vehicle. He was sh0t, and the attackers escaped with a Louis Vuitton bag containing approximately $50,000 in cash.

Onfroy died at the scene.

FOUR MEN IDENTIFIED

Investigators initially identified Dedrick Devonshay Williams through surveillance footage showing him inside RIVA Motorsports shortly before the robbery. Williams and Robert Allen had entered the dealership while Onfroy was shopping and purchased masks before returning to the waiting SUV.

The investigation eventually led authorities to four men:

Michael Boatwright
Dedrick Devonshay Williams
Trayvon Newsome
Robert Allen

According to testimony presented at trial, Boatwright and Newsome approached Onfroy’s BMW while Williams drove the SUV used to block his escape. Allen remained inside the vehicle.

Allen later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed robbery. As part of his agreement with prosecutors, he testified against Boatwright, Williams and Newsome.

Allen told jurors that the four men decided to rob Onfroy after recognizing him at the dealership. He identified Boatwright as the person who sh0t the rapper.

THE EVIDENCE PRESENTED AT TRIAL

Prosecutors built their case using surveillance recordings, cellphone-location information, forensic evidence and photographs taken after the crime.

Boatwright’s fingerprints were found on the outside of the getaway SUV, and his DNA was recovered from a mask found inside it. His phone contained photographs showing him posing with large amounts of cash several hours after the murder.

Cellphone evidence also tracked the defendants’ movements from near RIVA Motorsports to an apartment complex after the sh00ting.

The state presented videos and photographs showing some of the defendants displaying stacks of $100 bills following the robbery.

Defense attorneys challenged Allen’s credibility and questioned whether the physical evidence proved their clients committed the crime. Jurors ultimately rejected those arguments.

THREE CONVICTIONS AND LIFE SENTENCES

On March 20, 2023, a Broward County jury convicted Boatwright, Williams and Newsome of first-degree murder and armed robbery.

All three received life sentences in April 2023.

Allen received a substantially reduced sentence after pleading guilty and cooperating with prosecutors.

APPEALS REJECTED

Newsome appealed his conviction, but Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal affirmed the judgment on February 20, 2025.

Boatwright also challenged his conviction and sentence. He argued that his trial should have been separated from those of his co-defendants and raised objections concerning search warrants, testimony and other evidence.

On July 9, 2025, the Fourth District Court of Appeal rejected Boatwright’s arguments and affirmed his conviction and sentence on every issue.

The appellate court concluded that the trial judge properly handled testimony concerning statements made by Williams. The court also found that any potential error would have been harmless because Allen’s testimony and the remaining evidence independently established Boatwright’s involvement.

A BROWARD COUNTY CASE REMEMBERED WORLDWIDE

###Tentacion was raised in Broward County and developed an international audience through music that frequently addressed depression, isolation and personal turmoil.

His murder immediately attracted worldwide attention, but the criminal case remained rooted in Deerfield Beach, the Broward Sheriff’s Office investigation, the Broward County courthouse and the Florida State prison system.

KIZZIE THOMAS, RICHARD CUNNINGHAM II, MIGUEL HARVEY AND KEMARLEY WILSON: THE PLOT THAT ENDED DEAN HYATT’S LIFE

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. — Court and arrest records describe a coordinated plot that ended with 20-year-old Dean Hyatt being shot to death in the parking lot of the Caravel Arms Apartments on August 4, 2018.

The case involved Hyatt’s former girlfriend, Kizzie Lameka Shokim Thomas; Richard Michael Cunningham II; Miguel “Guel” Harvey; and Kemarley “Brisco” Wilson.

HYATT FOUND DEAD IN APARTMENT PARKING LOT

According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office probable-cause affidavit, deputies and fire-rescue personnel responded to the apartment complex at approximately 4:30 a.m. after a towing-company employee discovered Hyatt lying unresponsive near his Mercedes-Benz.

Hyatt had suffered multiple gunsh0t wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators recovered spent shell casings near his body.

Surveillance footage, witness statements and cellphone records would eventually reveal what investigators described as a plan to lure Hyatt into the parking lot.

INVESTIGATORS SAY THOMAS LURED HYATT TO THE LOCATION

According to the affidavit, Thomas communicated with Hyatt and arranged for him to meet her at the apartment complex.

Investigators later recovered deleted messages between Thomas and Cunningham that allegedly showed the two discussing a plan to “set up” Hyatt. The messages indicated that Thomas maintained her friendship with Hyatt while providing Cunningham with information about his location.

On the night of the murder, investigators said Thomas directed Hyatt to park in a particular area and supplied Cunningham with real-time updates as Hyatt arrived.

According to the affidavit, Thomas continued communicating with Cunningham after the sh00ting. Investigators said Cunningham instructed her to delete their conversations.

CUNNINGHAM IDENTIFIED AS THE SH00TER

A witness told detectives that Cunningham exited a dark-colored vehicle, approached Hyatt and fired.

The witness reported hearing approximately three or four sh0ts while running from the scene. Surveillance footage reportedly corroborated significant portions of the witness’s account.

Cellphone-location records placed Cunningham at the apartment complex during the period when the sh00ting occurred, according to investigators.

Cunningham was arrested on August 10, 2018.

HARVEY AND WILSON’S ROLES

The affidavit identifies Harvey as another man who exited the vehicle during the confrontation.

A witness said Harvey approached him aggressively immediately before Cunningham opened fire on Hyatt. Harvey was later convicted as an accessory in connection with the murder.

Investigators identified Wilson as the driver of the burgundy Kia Optima used during the incident. Wilson, who was known as “Brisco,” was indicted on a charge of accessory after the fact to murder.

THREE DEFENDANTS SENTENCED

On August 25, 2023, Cunningham pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 25-year prison sentence.

Thomas also pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 15-year prison sentence.

Harvey pleaded guilty to accessory to murder and received a five-year prison sentence.

Wilson’s accessory case was handled separately.

THOMAS’S BELATED APPEAL DENIED

Thomas later sought permission to file a belated appeal.

Her Broward County docket shows that the Fourth District Court of Appeal directed the circuit court to determine whether Thomas had previously asked her attorney to file an appeal.

On September 26, 2024, the appellate court adopted the commissioner’s findings and denied Thomas’s petition.

The docket also shows recommitment and rearrest paperwork filed on July 23, 2024, followed by an order returning Thomas to prison on July 31, 2024.

HARVEY ARRESTED REPEATEDLY WHILE UNDER COURT SUPERVISION

Harvey’s publicly available arrest history shows that he repeatedly returned to custody while the Dean Hyatt prosecution and resulting court supervision remained active.

🚨 ARREST ALERT 🚨
On April 11, 2026, just before 2 a.m., officers with the Hollywood Police Department responded to a hit-and-run in the 2400 block of Sheridan Street involving a pedestrian.
Officers located one victim who was transported to the hospital but unfortunately passed away from their injuries.
Traffic Homicide Detectives began their investigation. During their investigation, detectives learned the suspect, Shareef McDonald, removed the vehicle plate and had the car towed to try and get rid of the damage. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and McDonald was taken into custody on July 28th, 2026, in Dania Beach. He’s been charged with:
-Failure to stop or remain at an accident involving death
-Tampering with or fabricating physical evidence

RON JUBA REMAINS JAILED AS BROWARD FELONY-MURDER CASE CONTINUES

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — Nearly three years after his arrest, Ron Juba’s Broward County felony-murder and armed-robbery case remains unresolved as prosecutors and defense attorneys continue preparing the case.

Juba is accused in connection with a deadly robbery outside Cheetah Gentlemen’s Club in Hallandale Beach on July 1, 2022.

According to the arrest affidavit, Derrick Michel and a woman were approached in the club’s parking lot by two armed men who demanded jewelry. The woman produced a firearm as the suspects attempted to flee, and gunfire followed during the encounter. Michel was struck in the neck and later died from his injuries.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that showed the suspects arriving and escaping in a dark-colored BMW 4 Series. Detectives believed the vehicle appeared to be the same BMW used during another armed robbery outside the club approximately one week earlier.

Juba was arrested in July 2023 and charged with felony murder and armed robbery. Court records show that he pleaded not guilty. The case has since generated years of discovery filings, depositions, DNA-related proceedings, attorney changes and repeated status conferences.

Bonds were posted on four counts in the Broward case on March 24, 2025. However, Juba was later charged in a separate Miami-Dade armed-robbery investigation involving two tourists outside the EAST Miami hotel in Brickell.

Miami police alleged that Juba and two other men waited for the tourists to leave the hotel before confronting them with fi****ms. Juba allegedly pointed a gun at one victim, demanded jewelry and other valuables, attempted to pull a chain from the victim’s neck and threatened to kll him if he did not surrender it. Police estimated that approximately $30,000 in jewelry, watches, cash and other valuables was taken.

The suspects reportedly escaped in a black BMW 540i but made it less than a mile before the driver lost control on Brickell Avenue. Surveillance footage shows the BMW striking a median and violently overturning onto its side. Three men then climbed from the wrecked vehicle and fled through the downtown area on foot.

Police recovered stolen jewelry, two fi****ms, a cellphone and other evidence from the crashed BMW. Investigators said forensic evidence, phone records and assistance from the FBI ultimately helped connect Juba and the two other defendants to the robbery.

Although Juba previously obtained bond in the Broward case, the latest publicly reported Miami-Dade custody information listed him as being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

The most recent Broward docket entry shows that a status conference was held on July 10, 2026 and Juba’s next Miami court date has not yet been publicly confirmed.

STATE SEEKS DEATH PENALTY AGAINST MAN ACCUSED OF KLLING WOMAN IN SUNRISE PARKING GARAGE ( Jackson Sagesse )

CASE REMAINS PENDING AS DEFENSE CONTINUES DEPOSITIONS

SUNRISE, Fla. — Broward County prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Jackson Julian Sagesse Jr., the man accused of klling Hailey Hosford and critically injuring her friend during an apparently unprovoked knife attack inside a Sunrise apartment complex.

The May 28, 2025 attack was captured by surveillance cameras inside the parking garage at The Retreat at Sawgrass Village.

More than a year later, the case remains pending. Court records show Sagesse pleaded not guilty, and his defense was still filing notices to take depositions as recently as July 20, 2026.

WOMAN ATTACKED INSIDE PARKED CAR

According to Sunrise police, Hosford was waiting inside a black Mercedes-Benz while her friend briefly went into the apartment building.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed Sagesse approaching the vehicle in the parking garage.

Hosford initially opened a passenger door but then apparently saw Sagesse approaching and attempted to close it. Police said Sagesse forced the door back open before making repeated stbbing motions into the vehicle.

Hosford suffered multiple wounds to her neck and throat. Officers later found her unresponsive on the rear floorboard, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a steak knife was found on the vehicle’s front passenger seat.

SECOND VICTIM STBBED IN THE THROAT

Bryant returned to the garage and encountered Sagesse, according to investigators.

Police said the two men became involved in a violent confrontation before Sagesse allegedly stabbed Bryant in the throat and chased him through the garage.

Despite his injury, Bryant escaped and called 911 at approximately 1:42 a.m.

“Someone just stbbed me,” Bryant told the dispatcher in a recording later released by authorities. “He stbbed me in my neck. He got it pretty good.”

A responding officer found Bryant outside the complex with a puncture wound to his throat. He was still able to direct officers to the parking garage, where Hosford remained inside the vehicle.

Bryant survived but reportedly required extensive medical treatment, including a tracheostomy.

SUSPECT ARRESTED AT HIS APARTMENT

Workers at the complex reportedly recognized Sagesse from the surveillance video and directed police to an apartment he shared with his mother.

Officers arrested him a short time after the attack. Police said a steak knife was found in his pocket, blood was discovered near the apartment’s rear entrance and knives were missing from a kitchen knife block.

Sagesse was reportedly wearing clothing resembling what investigators observed in the surveillance video.

His Broward County booking report lists charges of premeditated murder and attempted felony murder. He was initially ordered held without bond.

“MURDERING FOR SELF-DEFENSE”

According to a detailed arrest report obtained by news organizations, Sagesse admitted stbbing both victims but repeatedly claimed he acted in self-defense.

Police said he described what he had done as “murdering for self-defense” and acknowledged aiming for Hosford’s “vital parts.”

Investigators said Sagesse estimated that he stbbed Hosford approximately 10 times. A medical examiner reportedly identified at least five wounds to her neck and throat.

Sagesse allegedly claimed he noticed the vehicle’s lights were on and initially wanted to call police. He said he returned to his apartment because he did not have his phone and collected a knife for protection before going back to the garage.

Police said he could not identify any specific threat made by either victim. Investigators have not publicly announced a clear motive for the attack. Local 10 News

PROSECUTORS ANNOUNCE DEATH-PENALTY CASE

A Broward County grand jury indicted Sagesse in June 2025. He entered not-guilty pleas during his June 17 arraignment and requested a jury trial.

On July 31, 2025, prosecutors filed a formal notice announcing their intention to seek the death penalty.

Court activity continued throughout the remainder of 2025. The docket includes discovery submissions, hearings and two notifications stating that Sagesse refused to leave the jail for scheduled court proceedings.

In October 2025, the court entered an order establishing discovery and motion deadlines and setting the case for a specially scheduled trial.

DEFENSE STILL CONDUCTING PRETRIAL DISCOVERY

The case had not reached a verdict as of July 20, 2026.

The prosecution continued filing discovery materials in early 2026, while Sagesse’s defense filed multiple notices to take depositions. Three deposition notices were filed on March 3, two more followed on May 14, and additional notices were filed on July 20.

A notice canceling a deposition was filed July 8.

The continuing deposition and discovery activity indicates that attorneys are still preparing the case for trial. The supplied docket does not identify the final trial date.

Sagesse has not been convicted, and the filing of a death-penalty notice does not mean a death sentence has been imposed. Prosecutors must first obtain a conviction for a capital offense before a separate penalty proceeding can determine whether the punishment will be life imprisonment or death.
