In this episode we meet for the first time with Kyle Chandler-Isacksen, co-founder of Be The Change Project and Reno Rot Riders. Be the Change Project is part of an international movement dedicated to the upliftment of all beings. Its mission is to promote deep connections within ourselves, with each other, nature, and spirit to awaken to our true nature, which we believe is love. This is done through five practices: Radical Simplicity, Service, Inner Work, Nonviolent Social and Political Activism, Honoring Nature.

The Be the Change Project will be an urban homestead devoted to family learning and service in a low-income neighborhood in the heart of Reno, Nevada. It will be an open and welcoming community space offering classes & workshops, family support, and a place to connect with nature and our higher selves. The electricity and car-free sanctuary will be an organic micro-farm, act as a Permaculture & Natural Building demonstration site, and host the regional headquarters of the Bicycling Superheroes service group. It will grow into a multi-generational Free-University and Free-School, sharing the power and challenge of Gandhian non-violence and radical simplicity with the globe. In alignment with our mission, Be the Change will be wholly operated on the Gift Economy, with everything offered freely in a spirit of gratitude and celebration.

The RRR is a bike-powered compost recycling program that collects organic waste and turns it into compost at local farms & gardens.

Their mission is to transform how Reno does waste for the benefit of people and planet.

In this episode of PSA Today, I talk with a representative from the American Bail Coalition about why his organization is fighting bail reform in Nevada. Then, I speak with Justice James Hardesty of the Nevada Supreme Court (also co-chair of the Nevada Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission), who clears up why there are not "two sides to this issue".

In the first part of this episode of PSA Today, we meet again with Kitty McKay, Director of Foundation Development for Carson Tahoe Health Foundation, one of the best cancer centers in the country, and the important role it plays for patients in need in Northern Nevada. Most importantly, we talk about their major annual fundraiser, HopeFest. HopeFest raises funds to put gas in a patient's car, a place to stay during treatment, assistance with insurance co-pays, and help with life-saving medications. Support is then distributed to patients in need through the Carson Tahoe Cancer Resource Center. Bring your family, friends, and lawn chair to this community celebration in support of area cancer patients in need.
