Well Reno, we gave it our all. We spent the last six months trying to secure our live entertainment permit to bring music and nightlife back to 214 west commercial row. We invested hundreds of hours combined into going to meetings, hearings, preparing presentations and applications. Thousands of dollars were spent to hire a board-certified sound engineer to complete a sound study to prove we wouldn’t disturb nearby residential. We did everything the city asked for and more, but the city council still denied our permit entirely, even after the city staff and planning commission recommended our permit be granted. Vice Mayor Kathleen Taylor made a motion to deny our permit and the council voted on the motion unanimously. When we followed up after the hearing and asked for the findings that supported the motion, they were unable to give us any reasoning as to why they denied the permit. It is clear the city doesn’t want any more nightlife downtown, only in casinos. For now, the project is dead, however we will continue to look for a new venue and reapply as soon as we can. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through this endeavor.
Special thank you to for covering our story and helping bring this to light.
