Congressional candidate to stop in Republic

REPUBLIC – Independent congressional candidate Nate Powell will host a public town hall at Republic School District at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, as part of his district-wide town hall tour across Eastern Washington. Republic will be the third stop after events in Pullman and Walla Walla.

The event will give Ferry County residents an opportunity to ask questions directly, raise concerns about the many issues impacting Ferry County, and hear Powell’s vision for Washington’s 5th Congressional District.

“Working people have spent years watching decisions made without them in mind,” Powell said. “This campaign is about showing up in places D.C. ignores, listening directly to those silenced voices, and building a government that answers to families instead of corporate interests.”

Powell is a Spokane firefighter, Marine veteran, and father running for Congress in Washington’s 5th Congressional District as an independent candidate.

Correction

An article in this week’s edition incorrectly stated the hours of a power outage planned for Friday, April 10. The outage will affect Ferry County residents north of the Highway 21 North and West Curlew Lake Road intersection, including Malo, Curlew, Danville, the Job Corps area and beyond to Marias Creek. The outage will in fact take place 9 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m.

Class 1 huricane winds are from 74 to 95 MPH.

Secure loose objects and be prepared for travel delays and power outages.

“The Voice of Christmas”

MALO – Country Life Crier will present “The Voice of Christmas” at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21 at Malo Grange. The program features the real story of Christmas, as well as carol singing accompanied by guitar, piano and flute. Refreshments will be served.
