"I am 82 years old, I have 4 children, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a room of 12 square meters.
I no longer have a home or expensive things, but I have someone who will clean my room, prepare food and change my bedding, measure my blood pressure and weigh me.
I no longer have the laughter of my grandchildren, I don't see them growing, hugging and arguing. Some come to me every 15 days, some every three or four months, and some never.
I don't bake cakes, I don't dig up the garden. I still have hobbies and I like to read, but my eyes quickly hurt.
I don’t know how much longer, but I have to get used to this loneliness.
Here at home, I lead group work and help those who are worse than me as much as I can.
Until recently, I read aloud to an immobile woman in the room next to me, we used to sing together, but she died the other day. They say life is getting longer. Why?
When I’m alone, I can look at photos of my family and memories I brought from home. And that's all.
I hope that the next generations will understand that families are born to have a future (with children) and that they do not forget about the family even in old age."

We didn’t go on long, fancy vacations as kids.
Cash wasn’t readily available, plus crops needed to drink and livestock needed to eat.
We didn’t own a cabin by the river or a house on wheels.
And it took me 41 years to own a passport, so there was no international traveling in my youth.
Still, Mom and Dad took us to the ocean twice.
To the east coast when I was 8.
To the west coast when I was 15.
Those vacations were lovely.
But so was that time our family rented a van and drove a few hours into the mountains. We spilled an entire box of Nerds on the van floor and laughed so hard our sides hurt.
So was that time we hopped in the car and drove a couple hours to our favorite hotel. We swam until our fingers were pruny and drank too much apple juice at breakfast.
So was that one summer it rained so much the pond overflowed and we jumped off trees into the murky water and floated under wide open skies.
I guess my point is this:
Don’t let social media fool you. Big vacations are lovely, yes. And if you can get away—do it! But if you simply didn't have the funds or the time for a vacation this year—PLEASE, don't let the guilt find you.
Kids don’t need fancy trips to have a memorable summer.
Hop in the pool and swim with them.
Buy a tub of ice cream, some sprinkles, a few cones, and eat until you’re stuffed.
Walk in the river and find creatures.
Head to your local library to check out new books.
Bake cookies and paint rocks.
Play a mean game of UNO.
Go to the county fair and pet a pig.
Watch a movie under the stars.
Kids don’t need money to make memories.
They just need you.
I promise—that’s better than any vacation you’ll ever give them.

My son and I moved last month, starting over with very little furniture. I found this advertised for free on Facebook one night, got up before work one morning and drove across town to pick it up from the curb. Strapped all ten million pounds of it onto the roof of my little four-door car. I think it's beautiful. Hard to believe was free and the timing was perfect.

Please give me ideas on how to make this space feel larger. Thanks.

My Grandma’s high school boyfriend, Jim, called her up a few months ago to plan a high school reunion. They are both 81 and widowed. Then they had another phone call. And another. Which turned into a visit. And then, they fell in love all over again. My Grandma started smiling again. Our talks started to be about her future instead of her past. She became herself again. I guess the same thing happened to Jim. His daughter called my grandma and thanked her for 'helping her dad smile again.'
Not many people marry their prom date…but tomorrow my Grandma gets to marry hers, even if it is 64 years after prom!

"This man is amazing! I'm hitchhiking from Yuba City to Chico for a job interview today because my company is no longer on the map. This man picks me up. We start talking, finding out we were neighbors in Paradise. He takes me all the way to my interview and waits for me. He buys me lunch, asks me for my phone number; I explain somehow in all the confusion I lost my phone during evacuation. He buys me a new phone. After I tell him, 'please no.' I wish you the best Greg in your new adventures; I'll never forget today and your kindness. And, I have a new job!"

Im sending an EXTRA SPECIAL THANK YOU to Trooper M. Hernandez for taking time out of his busy schedule by changing my daughter’s flat tire on I-530N heading to Little Rock!!! She called and informed me the tow would be an hour wait and the flow of traffic was frightening while stranded on side the road! Shortly afterwards this Trooper came to the rescue!! We salute you!!! Thank you for risking your life for the safety of others regardless of how big or small the situation.

My husband was going to burn his old g.un cabinet. That wasn’t happening with me around. So I repurposed it into a quilt cabinet.
Edit: I can’t believe how many people like my little g.un/quilt cabinet! It turned out really cute! Even though I didn’t like the paint when I originally put it on, so I started sanding it off! Then it looked kind of old and antiqued. So I just sanded few other places. This is what I ended up with. I actually have a few more quilts to add! Some times the simplest things turn out to be the best.

A COUPLE went to breakfast at a restaurant where the “seniors' special” was two Eggs, Bacon, Hash Browns, and Toast for $2.99.
“Sounds good,” the wife said…“but I don't want the eggs..”
“Then, I'll have to charge you $3.49 because you're ordering a la carte,”…the waiter warned her.
“You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?”…the wife asked incredulously.
“YES!”… stated the waiter.
“I'll take the special then,”…the wife said..
“Great…how do you want your eggs?“…the waiter asked.
“Raw and in the shell,”…the wife replied.
She took the two eggs home and baked a cake.
DON'T MESS WITH SENIORS!!!
WE'VE been around the block more than once!

4 years ago, he adopted an “unusual” girl. Two families rejected her, but this man refused to shirk from the responsibility and adopted her. Today, the girl with special needs has a dad. She's already 4, and is inseparable from her inspiring parent 😻

"Someone in my home tips group showed a person embroidering their couch where the cat had damaged it and it inspired me to fix my own couch with embroidery!
This was my end result. A massive thank you to the person who shared the idea originally. 🙂
PS - Please make sure your cat doesn't eat any of the fallout thread as it can be really awful for them. Be sure to clean up well."
