Trust in journalism is part of a much bigger set of relationships between how we know what we know, how we’re governed, how our rules and laws work, how our economy works, how we communicate with each other, how we learn and how we do business and interact with each other every day.

We’re in the midst of a trust crisis, personified by the rise of Trump, who has called journalists “the enemy of the American people“, along with a posse of radical opportunists who prop him up. But the crisis started long before he took power, and it runs much deeper.
