Found a new fox den today!🦊 I staked out the den for a few hours until the mother enticed the kits to come out and enjoy the sun.

I actually went into the woods today to shoot lizards. 😋

Had an urge to stop by a wetland this afternoon. I watched a great egret catch fish in the lily pads. A red-winged blackbird kept harassing this fellow fisher, trying to shoo the much bigger bird from the cattails. That's a small golden shiner in the beak.

Tracheal gills of a hellgrammite! I was surveying a creek looking for fishes but found this larva of an eastern dobsonfly (Corydalus cornutus). I never really had analyzed one in a tank so I threw it in. And a dobsonfly gets big, the size of your longest finger big.

Those gills are used for gas exchange. Not much has been studied on these organs. But they sure look cool!

I didn't throw on the tripod with the macro lens so the bit of blur is from the stabilizer software.
