The Chronotype

Founders Charles Abbott and C.W. Carpenter first published The Chronotype in 1874. Although the names have become little more than a footnote in local history, the newspaper they founded continues to thrive. We mark our 144th year of business in 2018, making The Chronotype the oldest continuously operated private business in Barron County.

The newspapers’s mission is to continue to serve as the primary source for fair and accurate local news and information for the Rice Lake area.
