While I was browsing John K. King books in Detroit, I found a book called “Hollywood and the Great Fan Magazines.” It was a collection of fan zines from the 1930s Hollywood era, with lots of juicy gossip and speculation. It was edited by Martin Levin and published in 1970. Of course, these zines were just a lot of outlandish gossip, but you can really get a view into how ordinary people received film stars as movies became a phenomenon in the 1930s. Best $4.95 I’ve spent in awhile.

Got Dr. Strangelove in 4K & rewatched it for the first time since high school, & I think it beat out A Clockwork Orange as my favorite Kubrick film. It is SO RELEVANT to today, an anti-fluoride conspiracy theorist calling for a nuclear attack cause he’s afraid of communism? These characters are non-fiction today. It might also be cause I’ve been doing improv comedy, but Peter Sellers’ performances in here (that were heavily improvised) are some of the best of all time. Letterboxd top 4 for me. - Eric
