𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧: KDPS has been made aware of a phone scam in which a caller falsely identifies themselves as "Sgt. Brian Cake with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department" and claims there is a warrant for your arrest. The caller then states a bond can be paid over the phone and proceeds to ask you to verify sensitive personal information.

To clarify, Sgt. Cake is a member of KDPS, not the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office. Additionally, KDPS will never request payment over the phone for an outstanding warrant. While there are rare occasions where an officer may ask for sensitive personal information over the phone—such as when you call us to make a report, and we need to enter your information into our system—KDPS will never solicit this information in the manner described in this scam.

If you have lost money as a result of this scam, please contact the Kalamazoo County Dispatch Authority (KCCDA) at 269-488-8911 to file a police report. If you ever have doubts about the legitimacy of a caller claiming to be law enforcement, hang up and contact KCCDA to verify their identity.

Stay vigilant and share this information to help protect others from falling victim to scams.

We cherish our GL bus drivers! A huge thank you to all.

Congratulations to the November Driver of the Month, Christine Gildea! 🚌

She is the driver of Bus #8, and started driving in 2010 through 2019. She missed the students and driving, so she came back to the district in 2023!

Her favorite things about driving a school bus are the kids and her love of driving. Christine believes that it is her purpose in this world to be there for her students on any given day that they may need a smile, a kind word or a hug. 💙
