Jungle Care had its inception in the 1970s, the time at which the environmental movement began to take root.

The origin of the movement followed the 1962 publication of Rachel Carson's fictional book, Silent Spring, about the aftermath of the massive pesticide spraying following WWII. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/silent-spring-rachel-carson/1100303602

She had found numerous dead fish and birds along the coastline in her work as a field biologist for the National Wildlife Service. An introverted person, she was the unlikely mother of the environmental movement, although she had some stature as a best selling author for her first three books, including The Sea Around Us, introducing the wonders of the ocean for the first time to a public which knew less about the ocean than the 17 century explorers. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/sea-around-us-rachel-louise-carson/1100462657?ean=9780190906764

PBS had a fascinating documentary about her life on American Experience, now only found on Amazon Video.
