An introverted person, she was the unlikely mother of the environmental movement, although she had some stature as a best selling author for her first three books, including The Sea Around Us, introducing the wonders of the ocean for the first time to a public which knew less about the ocean than the 17 century explorers. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/sea-around-us-rachel-louise-carson/1100462657?ean=9780190906764
