**Thoroughtruck Towing & Recovery Traffic Impactor** ESTILL/MADISON LINE- NEXT WEEK

Drivers who use KY 52 at the Estill-Madison county line, which is currently reduced to one lane due to a bridge replacement project, should prepare for additional delays on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 12-13.

Beams for the second side of the new structure will be unloaded and placed, resulting in temporary traffic stoppages for both directions of travel.

Law enforcement personnel will be present on those days for enhanced visibility. Electronic message boards will be updated to warn drivers of the delays.

The bridge over Drowning Creek, built in 1957 and used by more than 8,200 vehicles per day, is being replaced with a modern structure. Traffic was switched to the newly-constructed side of the bridge in late September.

A queue warning system is in place to alert drivers to the presence of slowed or stopped traffic at the bridge. The system consists of a series of sensors and variable message boards. The content of the message boards changes automatically based on the information provided by the sensors.

Drivers should slow down and pay attention to signage as they approach the bridge. Long, steep hills are present on either side of Drowning Creek, so motorists should keep their speed in check and be alert to changing road and travel conditions.

The existing bridge is rated in poor condition and has posted weight limits of between 39 and 60 tons, depending on the vehicle type. It is located at milepoint 0.0 in Estill County and milepoint 22.6 in Madison County.

The project is scheduled for completion by the end of November.
