Born on this day in 1931, Tom Wilson was one of the most important record producers of the 1960s. John Cale once said “The [Velvet Underground] never again had as good a producer as Tom Wilson.” (Wilson worked with the band on songs from ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico’ and ‘White Light/White Heat.’)

As if that wasn’t enough, he was also a close collaborator on music from Bob Dylan, Sun Ra, Frank Zappa, and much more.
