🚧 Street Closure Alert 🚧

The 900 block of Main Street will be closed today from 4:00 PM – 11:30 PM for Earlham College’s Homecoming Bash.

*This closure was approved by the Board of Public Works and Safety for their event.

Plan ahead! Weekend lane restrictions are expected on eastbound I-70 through at least October.

Work is planned from west of S.R. 1 to west of Centerville. Eastbound I-70 will be reduced to a single lane in a 2–3-mile section each weekend. Weekend closures will begin tomorrow between Mineral Springs Rd to Centerville Rd.

Drivers should prepare for long delays or use alternate routes when possible.

Heads up, drivers! Look for overnight lane closures this week between 8pm & 7am on westbound I-70 from Nolands Fork Creek to Plum Creek.

There’s also a single overnight lane closure on eastbound I-70 expected tonight, Sept. 29, near Brick Church Road as crews repair guardrail.

On September 27, 2025, at approximately 2:58 AM, the Wayne County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a person having difficulty breathing in the 800 block of North 19th Street.

Upon arrival, Richmond Fire Department medics and firefighters discovered the patient, an adult male, had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Medics promptly requested law enforcement officers respond.

RPD 3rd Shift officers secured the scene and contacted our Investigative Services Division for assistance. Detectives located the crime scene at a residence in the 900 block of North 19th Street, executed a search warrant, and gathered evidence.

The victim was initially transported to Reid Health for treatment and later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital. There is no update on his condition at this time.

This shooting is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.

We would like to thank Wayne County Emergency Communications for their assistance during this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
