Kendrick Lamar: Mr. Morale & Big Steppers

Favorite Track(s): United In Grief, N95, Die Hard, Father Time, Rich Spirit, Purple Hearts, Count Me Out

Pre-review: I am not a Kendrick/Kdot fan whatsoever. When the conversation of "what order would you place J. Cole, Drake, and Kendrick?" My order is Drake, Cole, Kendrick. However, I can respect and appreciate Kendrick's style and style addition to Hip-Hop.

Opinion/Review: Prior to listening to this album, I heard so many suggestions and opinions. "Listen to all the heart parts before listening to the album," "Have the lyrics up as you play each song so you can really get what he's saying," "It's similar to To Pimp a Butterfly." I did none of what I was advised to do (sorry to those who may be reading this). What I did instead was listen to it first on my sound system, and then again in headphones with the volume at its ultimate capacity. What I received was a poetic Kendrick giving his take on what has transpired in his life and what he has observed over the past five years since his release of DAMN in 2018.

This project is heavy as well as concise. The production on the album is spectacular. I think this would be the album that I would play to introduce anyone to Kendrick Lamar if they've never heard of a project by him.

Don't compare yourself to another person. Compare stats, muscle gains, weight loss, etc. Yet, do not compare yourself to another person. Comparison is the thief of joy, as well as contentment. Comparison will have you out of your lane, and into someone's lane that was not intended for you. Don't compare yourself to anyone else

For those new comers, allow me to reintroduce myself

I'm Chynna Holmes aka a few other names depending on whom you are speaking with.

I own a DJ business that is based in the Richmond area, and I go by the name DJ Chynna Doll. I DJ various events and am always looking to enhance an event with my music selection.

I'm a Drake fanatic, but not a normal Stan... we can talk about it.

I enjoy chocolate (mini m&ms & Hershey bar to be specific), laughing loudly with friends, football, swimming, and a good vibe.

I dislike my peace disrupted, rollercoasters, separated txt messages (yes, please send me one full thought/question), and bad dj transitions (but sometimes it happens).

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable

I wondered why somethings in regards to my career were becoming uncomfortable, and it is because I'm not meant to be comfortable. When you love your craft, it doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be comfortable doing it. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable, that's how you know that you're on the path of greatness and will accomplish the things that you have asked for.

Fivio Foreign: B.I.B.L.E

Favorite Track(s): On God, Through the Fire, City of Gods, What's My Name, Hello

Opinion/Review: Not sure if without Pop Smoke, Fivio would be who he is today, but due to Pop Smoke... we have Fivio Foreign. I was excited to listen to this album, but it wasn't 100% what I was expecting. It gave me the energy and drill sound that I was looking for, yet, on the other end of the spectrum, it sounded very polished. Which, to be frank, should be of no surprised when your album is executive produced by Kanye West. Be that as it may, I was looking for a grittier or muddier caliber of sound to the album. Still, I enjoyed the fact that for the entire album, Fivio didn't deviate from the drill sound. Instead, he invited artists and production into his world and had them conform to his sound. Also, he has shown that the drill sound does not have to be harsh, it can be soft and something vibey for the women. Overall, this album is very enjoyable and something to vibe to when in and out of NY.

Your business cannot thrive if you are not well personally.

Life happens. Don't feel guilty that you need to take a pause. Ignoring the signs to take a pause could be detrimental to your business, and most importantly, your health. You're business cannot run nor be successful, if you don't take care of the main person: You. Sometimes as business owners and entrepreneurs, we may get so caught up in the grind of business that we begin to think that we MUST ALWAYS be grinding. You didn't obtain your own business to just grind your life away. You obtained it for the ability to do what it is that you love.

Smell the flowers. Take a break. Enjoy the process. Recognize how far you have come. Heal yourself. Discover your purpose and what's important to you. Essentially, take a break when necessary. Your health matters
