“What’s the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils?” I get asked this question a lot.

The answer isn’t simple.

Essential oils are naturally derived from plants through processes like steam distillation or cold pressing. Think lavender, peppermint, lemon, orange and tea tree. They carry the natural aroma of the plant they come from and are often chosen by those looking for a more natural scent option.

We offer several scents that are 100% essential oil.

Fragrance oils are specially formulated scents that can be created to smell like things that don’t naturally produce essential oils.

For example:
Cherry 🍒 Almond, a blended fragrance oil and we add some almond,
Bourbon Buttercream, 🥃 which is made with a blended fragrance and we add real bourbon and vanilla. Almost every one of our soaps scented with blended fragrance from a supplier has a little something added by me. Some of our scents are even essential oils blended with a fragrance oil.

But not all fragrance oils are created equal. Just like any ingredient, there are varying quality levels. We choose high-quality fragrance oils that are skin-safe, and cosmetic grade. Synthetic does not always mean toxic. A well-made fragrance oil can provide a beautiful, long-lasting scent experience that simply isn’t possible with essential oils alone.

💚 The most important thing? Transparency.

Everyone’s skin, scent preferences, and sensitivities are different. But most everyone enjoys a nice scented soap.
Whether you love lavender, fruity, citrus or earthy scents like patchouli, The best product is the one that works for you and makes you feel good.
