Hey RGK,
My son, (19) just left for college a few weeks ago. The house already feels quiet and empty. To keep myself busy, I started turning his old bedroom into a home office — fresh paint, moved in a new desk, some motivational art work, stuff like that. I didn’t throw his stuff out, just boxed it neatly in the closet. When he came home this weekend, he was furious. He said it felt like I ‘erased’ him the second he left, and my wife sided with him, saying I should’ve at least waited until Christmas. My view is: we’re paying for the house, space is limited, and I needed somewhere to work that wasn’t the kitchen table. I don’t think I did anything wrong, but now they’re both upset with me. Please let your listeners chime in, was I too fast in repurposing this room? Or does my son need to get over it?
