This time last year my late husband Andri Williams-Bey and I was preparing for the holiday and he was running through the grocery stores so he could prepare his famous brisket (those who’ve had it know🔥)
In addition we also wanted to be a blessing to those who may have been struggling with loosing a loved one. Thanksgiving has always been a struggle for me because my mother passed away in 1999 before the hospital released her to come home for Thanksgiving. I say all that to say that I and my kids will be listening to the show we created last year as we prepare to have our first Thanksgiving without him. As of today we are ok and have been able to smile and share great memories but tomorrow and the days to come after may be harder. That’s the funny thing with grief. Everyone grieves differently and one moment you’re ok then the next you’re not and that’s ok. We are here for our journey and all that comes with it.
I want to emphasize how important it is during this time of year for everyone to carry a spirit of love and compassion for those dealing with grief. Grace needs to be extended at an all time high right now. Holidays could be triggering and the most important advice I can give is to love people through their process of grief however their process may look. Therapy is good however it should never trump an actual community of family and love. Imagine how many people wouldn’t need therapy if their environments from childhood were filled with authentic Agape love and support🙏💕 Me and the kids are looking forward to being surrounded by family this week and we just want to extend
our love and prayers to everyone that has gone through or is currently going through what we are. It’s a journey but it’s yours to follow so feel everything you need to and take as much time as you need to grieve. We love you!!!
