I had a great time hosting my first meetup with the Bakersfield Photography Group instructing the Landscape & Wildlife photography meetup. I will be hosting another meetup again. I will be the instructor for Compositions in Photography on Sun Jan 18 at 10am at Hart Memorial Park.

Composition in photography is a way of telling a story, creating mood, placement, perspective & scale. In this meetup, we will discuss techniques, what to look for in a scene and how to frame a scene. We will put your new knowledge to work with some fun and challenging exercises.

I hosted my first photography workshop today with the Bakersfield Photography Group. Three people joined me at Hart Memorial Park for an enjoyable landscape & wildlife workshop. Everyone was involved, asked questions, participated in shoots and shared what they captured.

We had plenty wildlife wanting to pose for photos today. The park has an abundance of raccoons and peacocks. Cool temps and fog created soft light making for nice photos. These are a few photos I took throughout our event today.

I am teaching a Landscape & Wildlife Photography workshop this Sun Dec 14 at 10am at Hart Memorial Park in Bakersfield.

Photographing the great outdoors with scenic vistas and amazing wildlife is a lot of fun. Along with the fun, it can also be challenging. In this meetup, we'll review basic camera settings, focusing on the best settings for landscapes and wildlife. We'll discuss some of the techniques and tips you can use in your landscape and wildlife photography. Then we'll put your new knowledge to work with some fun and challenging exercises.

Even the Moon Pauses for a Beautiful Sunset

While shooting a high school soccer game Thursday night, the skies above put on a show. A supermoon rose over the eastern mountains and shortly after, the western sky lit up with vibrant colored waves. Both of these shots were taken handheld as I was shooting a fast-paced soccer game below the sky.
