For the first time in its more than 80-year history, The is coming to Mississippi. 🪕🎶Known as the nation’s longest running traditional arts event, The National Folk Festival is a free, three-day, outdoor multicultural celebration of music, dance, and traditional arts. The festival will set up a residency in Jackson for three years, from 2025-2027. The dates for this year are Nov. 7-9. 🗓️

First presented in St. Louis in 1934, the festival celebrates the roots, richness, and variety of American culture. Championed in its early years by Eleanor Roosevelt, it was the first event of national stature to present the artistic traditions of all Americans on equal footing. 🎤

Hollinghead spent her life researching the story of what happened to her grandfather and recently published, “Beyond the Green Widow: Consequences of the Piney Woods Creek Murders of 1921.” 📚🔍
