Horses are my passion and have been for a long time. My dad bought my first pony for my 5th birthday. At one point I was told this is just a phase ***cue hysterical laughter***

I grew up going to local horse shows, gymkhanas, playing polocrosse, going on trail rides and pack trips, and occasionally going on cattle drives. That led to me applying for and attending the Equine Sciences program at Co

lorado State University. After taking the colt starting class and interning and working as an assistant trainer, it was time for me to go on my own. For along time my business was a side-gig of starting colts. Since my experience in teaching and giving lessons has grown, and I am now able to call this my full time job, I now spend most of my time coaching, giving lessons, and teaching people how to help themselves which helps their horses. I now raise mules as part of the business and we recently added a gypsy mare to our breeding stock. The breeding side of our business focuses on breeding gentle, family-prospects. Having kids of my own has really changed my outlook in making sure I'm putting disposition first in all of the foals we breed for. I still show in the Versatility Ranch horse classes, offer training services for approved horses, specialize in lessons and coaching cow work (but also do general riding), give clinics and youth riding lessons, offer stud breeding services from our Quarter horse stallion and Mammoth Jack, and judge horse shows. I don't take outside colts to start anymore, but I do have a good reference upon request :)

Here's the big differences that I see between horses and mules, and I was thinking about this, as I was starting one of my mule, babies that we bred. And the technique of training a horse emule is similar, but the mindset is different.. . Day 2 Part 6 and here’s where I ended for this session with dodger and my first time being up over his back I don’t ask for a step for first time I get on top of them. I want them to think that when I’m up there they stop that’s great cause I can always put forward into a Horse. That’s not the hard part.

Don't let not having the perfect setup stop you from starting! If I can do it, you can do it too.

You don't even need a bread machine to start cooking things from home—you just need to start! But the bread machine did make this cinnamon roll edition insanely easy.

The little dogh mat was a complete win for containing the mess, and I was so satisfied with how well the little baking pans worked.

Day 2 part 4 of 5 of the cult named dodger who’s getting started under saddle this is where I actually put a foot in a stirrup and see if he is going to tolerate me getting a little bounce to get up over his back. This is a critical step because if they freak out here then I’m not gonna move forward we’re gonna do some more homework and try again tomorrow.

Day 2 part 3 of 5 this is maybe one of the most important things you can teach a cult outside of the first thing which I think is the most important and that is the puppet on the string principle this difference between whoa and go making sure your c**t has a very clear idea of what you’re moving forward signals are and what you’re stopping signals are in the nuance between those two signals before you get on their back.

Just a little bit of daily wisdom while I put my toddler down for a nap.

I've been getting a lot of new followers lately and some negative comments on some of the things that I post.

Here's one thing I've learned since making the internet my job;

It doesn't matter what I do and how helpful I try to be, there's always people who are going to disagree and think that I'm wrong or stupid for doing it the way that I did it.

But here's one thing if you decided to follow along that I can guarantee you:

Is that I only share things that I genuinely think will make your life better.

Because I've made a lot of mistakes, had a lot of struggles. I'm passionate about teaching, relationships and making the world a better place, and that's why I show up here.

It's to put a little bit of good in the world.

That being said, no good deed goes unpunished.

For those of you who decided to follow, I’m glad you're here for the ride. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Spooky horses the real answer is that you just can't take this book out of a horse.But you can help him deal with it better.And that comes down to how you handle the situation.If they have a lot of confidence in you being able to solve their problems and not make it worse, they're going to be less spooky.But if you make the situation worse, whether that's adding more pressure into a situation that does not need more pressure or not stepping up and taking control of the situation.And being too passive, the horse is going to rely on himself to take care of himself.
