My big goal is a 12 X 60 perimeter garden. This step is a 12 x 6 compost square and mulch square. We have a wood chipper so I should be able to make my own mulch.

ONE WOMAN'S TRASH BECOMES THAT SAME WOMAN'S TREASURE.
Our new home was my father-in-law's place for a long time and the Davis's before that and the Lowry's before that. I've looked at the "junk" in the barn and other outbuildings for a long time. But last week, when I got out and measured out my garden perimeter (see the orange flags?), all that "junk" suddenly came into focus! I could see many things in that old barn that I've been looking at on YouTube gardening videos (thanks Anne of All Trades) and thinking about buying!! That little plot of land has been used for a garden for 70+ years, and I'm super excited to get in the barn (while it's cool and relatively critter-free) to see what treasures it holds!!

In 2023, I started this page to record my explorations in Northeast MS towns. Lots of you followed along and added great insight. At the end of 2023, a lot of things changed for me and I had to put this page and my travels on a back burner. Since then I have downsized from a big 2-story house with big outdoor kitchen and big shop to a small farmhouse with 33 acres in Benton County. I find myself in this new year, 2025, in a completely different and decidedly better frame of mind!! So I decided to morph my page to meet my current frame of mind. In this chapter, I plan to share my gardening attempts, help you downsize like I did, continue downsizing myself, and continue to discover all of the cool things in Northeast Mississippi. I invite you to come along for the ride.
