The Halls Tigers are coming off an 8-2 season and a 20-0 win in last Friday's Tiger Bowl as they look to get the season kicked off right against Humboldt tonight in Halls. Coach Blake Stigall has his troops ready for another big season with complete coverage of the team included in this week's 60-page Football Preview Special Section in The Lauderdale Voice. HHS Seniors are featured extensively in the section, which includes stories on the Halls Junior High School football team, HHS Cheerleaders and HJH Cheerleaders and Halls graduates Ladarrius Roberts and Keltauren Taylor, who are playing college football this season.

Complete coverage of the Tigers' upcoming season under second-year Coach Jordan Gardner is included, along with stories about the Ripley Middle School football team and former RHS Tigers Austin Thompson, III, and JQ Hurdle, who are playing college football this year. Earlier this week, the Lauderdale County School Board voted to offer the Superintendent position to current Bledsoe County Director of Schools Selina Sparkman. The board is hopeful to complete contract talks with her in the next two weeks to make the appointment official. See more details in next week's issue of The Lauderdale Voice.

The Ripley High School Track team did not win a fifth straight State Championship at this year's State Track Meet, but several local athletes competed at the highest level this week.
RHS sophomore Abigail Nesbitt finished seventh in the shot put competition with a throw of 33'8". Keanon King took eight in the discus with a throw of 112'3". The Ripley 4x100-meter relay team was disqualified at the competition, while Jonathon Currie received a "DNS" in the 110-high hurdles. Terryon Currie finished eight in the 100-meter dash.

The Halls High School softball team will finish in the top 6 in the State after last night's thrilling 8-6 win over Oakdale. Carlee Riddick threw a complete game and did not allow an earned run, striking out seven in the contest. Halls defensive miscues led to a 6-3 lead for Oakdale going into the sixth, but the Lady Tigers scored two in the sixth and 3 in the seventh for the win.
Mya Brown had a huge day offensively with three hits, three runs scored and an RBI. Jayla Cobb had a hit, a run scored and three RBI.
Halls is currently battling Bruceton in an elimination game that started at 9 a.m.

The Halls High School softball team saw their game against Gordonsville postponed today due to rain in Murfreesboro. The Lady Tigers are now scheduled to start play in the State Tournament tomorrow at 11 a.m.
