In total, 700 Marines had joined the guard amid controversy over President Donald Trump’s decision to federalize the National Guard. According to the department, the military wasn’t detaining anyone or participating in law enforcement activities.

“Right now, as of today, we have had no soldier or Marine detain anyone,” Army Maj. Gen. Scott Sherman said, according to the Defense Department’s website. Sherman leads Task Force 51, which is dedicated to supporting federal law enforcement in the area.

A federal judge ordered the Trump administration on June 13 to reinstate three members of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), holding that the Constitution allows limits on the president’s ability to remove them.

In a 31-page opinion, U.S. District Judge Matthew Maddox said the Trump administration had invalidly removed the commissioners and that the government should provide necessary resources for them to carry out their duties.

The commission focuses on preventing injuries associated with consumer products by issuing mandatory standards, among other things. It can also conduct administrative investigations with the power to issue and enforce subpoenas.

House Republicans on Friday launched an investigation into a China-based billionaire allegedly funding protest groups in the United States, including one reportedly linked to riots against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles.

The probe targets Neville Roy Singham, a Chicago-born businessman and self-described socialist. He lives in Shanghai with his wife, Jodie Evans, a prominent social justice activist and co-founder of advocacy group Code Pink.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) said the House Oversight committee will be calling Singham to testify regarding the funding of what she described as “a communist group” tied to both the Los Angeles riots and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Republican Gov. Mike Kehoe said he had declared a state of emergency due to civil unrest and called on officials in the state to activate portions of the National Guard to “protect life and property.”

“We respect, and will defend, the right to peacefully protest, but we will not tolerate violence or lawlessness in our state,” his statement said.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents raided a meat production plant in Omaha, Nebraska, on Tuesday in what the Homeland Security Department (DHS) described as the “largest worksite enforcement operation” in the state since President Donald Trump took office in January.

The raid happened at around 9 a.m. at a plant of Glenn Valley Foods.

In a statement on the social media platform X, DHS said “an illegal alien from Honduras [threatened] federal officers and agents with a box cutter,” while they were conducting the enforcement operation.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested an illegal immigrant with a criminal record who allegedly attacked law enforcement officials during riots in Los Angeles, the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement on June 11.

Emiliano Garduno-Galvez, a Mexican national, is accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at federal agents on June 7. He now faces attempted murder charges, the statement said.

“These are the types of criminal illegal aliens that rioters are fighting to protect. ... If you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in the statement.

ABC News has fired veteran correspondent Terry Moran, citing company policy violations and the imperatives of journalistic integrity after Moran said in a since-deleted social media post that President Donald Trump was a “world-class hater” and that top aide Stephen Miller’s “bile” was fueling Trump’s movement.

A spokesperson for ABC News told media outlets in a June 10 statement that the company had decided not to renew its contract with Moran based on the post.

“We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post—which was a clear violation of ABC News policies—we have made the decision to not renew,” the spokesperson said.
