RIP Duane Roberts
A Statement from Kelly J. Roberts
It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Duane R. Roberts a visionary entrepreneur, devoted husband, and a man whose heart and generosity forever shaped our family and community.
I feel so blessed to have shared 35 wonderful years of marriage with Duane. Together, we built a beautiful life working side by side, sharing in the joy, purpose, and love that defined our journey together. He was the most incredible husband and stepfather to Doug and Casey, and a loving grandfather whose wisdom and warmth touched every generation of our family. We had a special love for one another, and I will forever miss him.
Duane passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 1, surrounded by family and our three beloved dogs, just days shy of his 89th birthday.
A proud American, Duane deeply loved his country and honorably served in the United States military. A staunch supporter of the Republican Party, he believed passionately in the principles of hard work, perseverance, and opportunity values that guided both his business ventures and his life.
Duane dedicated his life to creating beauty, inspiring others, and giving back. From his early business successes to his transformative restoration of The Historic Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, he poured his passion into preserving history and building a legacy of excellence, compassion, and love that will endure for generations.
His philanthropic spirit touched countless lives across the nation. Duane’s generosity extended far, supporting causes devoted to animal welfare, education, veterans, healthcare, and the arts. His love for Riverside helped revitalize its historic core and strengthen the heart of the community. He was deeply committed to helping those in need, and his compassion knew no bounds. The impact of his kindness and the organizations he championed will continue to inspire and uplift others for generations to come.
Duane’s light will continue to shine brightly. I am profoundly grateful for the outpouring of love, memories, and prayers during this difficult time. His light will forever guide us in service, in kindness, and in love.
