πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ™πŸ» Honored to meet and shake hands with the last living Korean War Medal of Honor recipient Capt. E. Royce Williams, USN. His handshake came with a challenge coin that he gifted to me in gratitude for playing the Bagpipes this Memorial Day as we gathered to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. This will be a moment I will always hold close to my heart. I could feel my WW2 Navy Grandfather with me as I shook his hand. I am eternally grateful for the service and sacrifice that has been given.

As he left Riverside National Cemetery I was honored to play Anchors Away for this incredible man. βš“οΈ

Semper Fi teams at Riverside National Cemetery gather to honor these men and women. This service is open to the public every third Wednesday of the month at 9am. πŸͺΆπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ A profound moment to be a part of the dedication of the American Indian Veterans Memorial called The Gift at Riverside National Cemetery. May 2nd will always hold a special place in my heart. This project started 22 years ago. Being a witness as this beautiful Memorial is placed and dedicated in its forever spot has been a true gift to experience.

A year ago I had the pleasure of interviewing Sharron Savage about this incredible Monument. I have met so many incredible people from the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and the American Indian Alaska Native Veterans Memorial Committee. It was an honor to be asked to participate and play the Bagpipes leading the procession from the Amphitheater through the tribute Eagles to the Memorial playing Amazing Grace followed by an indigenous singer and Dancer Henri Mascorro.

Meeting the sculpted/artist, A. Thomas Schomberg, who created this monument was a wonderful highlight.

Thankful for the many hands that have worked over the years to complete this beautiful monument. The power of love, community and service is what helped this come together. Many hands make light work!

If you get a moment please go out and see this beautiful monument celebrating the Indigenous volunteers that served this country. You will love the peace and connection that is felt at this sacred site. πŸ™πŸ»πŸͺΆ
