The city of Lander is responding to a water main break that occurred this afternoon on Victory Lane. Customers in the affected area may experience temporary water service interruptions or reduced water pressure.
Residents and businesses across town may also notice cloudy or discolored water. If this occurs, we recommend running your cold water taps until the water clears to help flush your service line. Please note: the water remains safe for drinking and everyday use.
City crews will begin repairs this afternoon once utility locates are complete and after middle school pick-up traffic has subsided. Repairs are expected to be finished later this evening.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. For everyone’s safety, please drive with caution around the work area.
To report a water main break or sewer emergency during business hours, call city hall at (307) 332-2870. For after-hours emergencies, call the same number and press the # key to reach on-call personnel.

By the time he was seven, Jack C. Malmberg was spending full days in the saddle, trailing alongside seasoned cowboys on a 50,000-acre ranch managed by his father.

Now 85, Malmberg’s colossal hands are worn from a lifetime of ranch work – particularly driving teams of draft horses. A steadfast outlier in the gas-powered tractor age, Malmberg prefers true horsepower.

Nailed to the kitchen wall of his home outside Lander, a black-and-white photo shows a five-month-old Jack C. Malmberg sitting in the driver’s seat of a horse-drawn hay rake. By

Go Baby Go! is a national program intended to bring increased mobility to disabled children – but it was Amber Peckham-Jones, the LOR Foundation, Sam Hartpence, and the middle and high school kids in the Lander robotics club that made it a reality in Lander.
