A Dictionary Is Still a Key to a Child’s Future
In an age of search engines, smartphones and voice assistants, it may be tempting to think a printed dictionary has outlived its usefulness. Spend a few minutes with a third grader receiving a dictionary of their very own, however, and you will see something different: curiosity, excitement and the confidence that comes from having a trusted learning tool right at their fingertips.
That is why the Kiwanis of Riverview Dictionary Program remains one of our club’s most meaningful annual traditions. Since 2007, with the generous help of local businesses and community supporters, Kiwanis has distributed 4,856 dictionaries to third-grade students in Riverview schools. This fall, they hope to continue that promise once again.

Riverview Fire Department Welcomes New Firefighter Paramedic
The Riverview Fire Department celebrated the successful completion of fire school by Mackenzie Horvath, marking an important milestone in her career with the department.
Horvath joined the Riverview Fire Department as a full-time paramedic in January. While working her regular shifts as a paramedic, she also dedicated her time and effort to completing fire school.

For generations, the Kiwanis of Riverview has worked to improve the lives of local families, especially the children of our community. From providing dictionaries to elementary students and supporting youth leadership programs to help families during the holidays, Kiwanis members have consistently looked for meaningful ways to ensure Riverview’s children feel supported, valued and included.
