A look inside Appalachia Press ✨

We had the chance to sit down with John Reburn to learn the “why” behind his business. We’re proud to announce that Blue Ridge PBS has received 4 nominations in the 68th Emmy Awards!

These nominations from the National Capital Chapter celebrate the incredible storytellers, producers, filmmakers, and creators who work every day to bring meaningful stories from our region to audiences across the country.

This year’s honors include recognition for projects like Resolved to Live & Die, Water for All, and our beloved Virginia Roots series.

Public media is powered by community, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who supports, watches, and believes in the work we do.

Congratulations to all of this year’s nominees, and thank you for helping us continue telling the stories that matter.

Tune in Sunday at 7 for a special Mothers Day storytelling program featuring moms telling stories of struggle and triumph. It was recorded live at 5 Points Music Sanctuary in Roanoke as part of a fundraiser for Huddle Up Moms, a local non-profit that provides supplies like diapers (no questions asked), education and support to families who need it the most. You might want to have a box of tissues handy!

Years ago, we traveled The Crooked Road, Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, to explore the sounds, stories, and communities keeping Appalachian music alive. From front porches to fiddles, this journey captured a piece of Southwest Virginia culture that still resonates today.

Take a trip On The Crooked Road with us and see why the music never stops in Virginia. 🎶 Full series here: https://youtu.be/AowGa0ITTe4?si=pMhqTCPtcncFNTcO
