Please help us welcome our new Director of Operations, Michael Ptacin!
Michael has been a percussionist in the Trekorda network since 2019. Michael has spent the last 10 years in Dallas working as a music educator in addition to being a regular performer in theaters and venues throughout DFW. We are excited to have them as our newest Trekorda admin team member
With that being said, we must say farewell to our long serving Director of Operations, Katie Anderson. We are so grateful for her time with us and all of the knowledge and experience she contributed to making Trekorda so successful. We are delighted that Katie will continue to collaborate as a musician in the Trekorda community that she has helped to create.

Trekorda is an idea for a service that was born in 2008. I was in graduate school getting a degree in Piano Pedagogy and accompanying my wife’s choir concerts at Perry MS in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. As the calls kept coming in, instead of telling people “No, I’m sorry I’m already booked,” I would ask them if I could get all of the information so that I could connect them with one of my colleagues from Grad school to play for them. At that time I would even drive to the client and pick up the music and deliver it to my friends when I saw them in class. That was the model for the first few years but as the network grew, personally delivering the music became impossible.
At that time we called ourselves Collaborative Pianists of DFW. We registered the business as a vendor in 5-6 school districts and we expanded to every district where our services were requested. We specialized in accompanying student soloists at Solo and Ensemble contests, seasonal choir concerts, and of course MS and HS UIL choir contests. Managing the communications for all of our clients and musicians was increasingly more difficult, but we could find no software solution that would suit our needs. Without it, we were being buried by requests, and the quality of our service was being stressed.
DEVELOPMENT
In 2017 we reached out to a software solutions company, Data Paradigm, to help us design a system that would allow us to take requests and send them via text/email to musicians using the Trekorda service. With that system in place, we are now able to be much more efficient in communicating the needs of our clients to the musicians within our network. Once the client has provided the event details, approved our quote, and specified the order in which they wish their preferred musicians be notified, we take care of the rest.
Since this system allows us to include other musicians besides pianists, and we no longer are limited to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, we needed a new name. Most people are aware of the una corda (the soft pedal) on the piano but what they might not know is that when the composer wants the performer to release that pedal to allow all of the strings to vibrate and increase the volume the words “tre corde” are printed in the music. For many years our company was operating with the una corda pedal but we are now ready to be Trekorda, full and strong!
RECAPITULATION - WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED
A way for all professional freelance musicians to do what they do best: Practice, Perform, and get Paid! Instead of sorting through vague emails, negotiating rates, and filling out paperwork for every single job, the musicians using Trekorda simply review the event details as one complete gig invitation. Once the invitation is accepted then they just download the music and began preparing for the performance. Once the performance is over payment is sent directly via direct deposit from Trekorda within 24 hours. No waiting for checks or cash, no invoicing, no vendor applications, and no headaches of incomplete information for gigs.
For clients using the Trekorda service we offer one place to communicate your needs, guaranteed quality musicians, and one vendor for all of the financial requirements. We are really excited about the impact that Trekorda is having on the music industry, because it is revolutionizing the process of hiring free-lance musicians.
